Starting again rarely looks impressive while you’re in the middle of it.

After years of DJing in Melbourne, Carina Lawrence arrived in London and went six to eight months without a gig.

In this Artist’s Eye Chats episode, Rick looks back with Carina at the stretch between getting off that plane and becoming a regular in some of London’s biggest clubs.

Some moments in a creative life make everything before them feel connected.

For Carina Lawrence, one of those moments happened behind the decks at Drumsheds, when a memory of pretending to play to thousands suddenly met the reality in front of her.

The film explores the doubt, persistence and people behind that journey.

‘Lakeside Reverie’ is out now!

There are certain places that stay with you forever, and for me Lake Eildon is one of them. So many memories, so much perspective and a place that’s always brought me peace and inspiration throughout my life.

This track came together a few months ago in this very place. The stillness, sounds of the Australian bush, the water… all of it found its way into the music.

I’m so honoured to release this with the legendary label @bar25music and very happy to finally share this one with you.

Passion survives only if the pressure shifts

In this #ArtistsEye moment, @caleesi_music reflects on how DJing moved from a hobby to a full-time life on the road, and how constant delivery can quietly drain the spark if you don't relearn how to be kind to yourself.
Sustainability isn't just about careers. It's about protecting the joy that made you start in the first place.

Every artist is unique

Ask the same question and different windows open, revealing @dj.n1nja’s commitment to values, @karisohara’s attention to authorship over identity, and @ley_loosh’s quiet relationship with solitude.

What do you protect to keep going?

Before clubs and CDJs,
@innersticemusic was in punk bands, learning rhythm the hard way.
That foundation still drives his sound.

#ArtistsEye: Finding rhythm far from the studio
N1NJA @n1njamusic shares how the sounds of skis cutting through snow and engines in motion become the foundation for her music, reshaped into texture, groove and atmosphere

A process guided by curiosity, with an ear tuned toward creating something that can endure

When the tool you’ve always relied on disappears, you’re forced to ask a harder question.
What is the work really coming from?
