Listened to this on Wednesday while I was destroying another computer (not intentionally). It was John Coltrane‘s 100th birthday, and I was in the groove.
but heck, I forgot to say anything about it. Hope everyone goes out there and cranks up some John Coltrane. It is good for your soul.

Oooh, no! Almost out of the delicious blueberry jam we picked up in July in the Great Smoky Mountains. Luckily the TOE Jam I bought is also delicious. Tangerine, Orange and Elderberry according to the label. Whew.

RIP Peter Max, ambassador of Peace, Love and Beauty. Probably my favorite 60’s Pop Artist. We have a few Maximized artifacts around the house, including the Love, Love, Love print my sister gave me way back when and the painting we bought a few years ago. I think my favorite is the Peter Max paper airplane book. Not sure where I got it but I’ve had it forever. Never made a single airplane, so who knows maybe it’s worth something? There’s also Max-influenced artwork, like the Yellow Submarine lenticular 3-D poster and my own photos, manipulated by the spiffy Phototropodelic filter from a decade or so ago. Quite influential, that Peter Max.

Back in 1999 we visited the WTC with my brother's family. No strangers to NYC, but we'd never done the tourist stuff. Fun times! Little did we know... and glad we went before it was too late. Love ya, NY!

Well, this is fun! Brings back memories, even though I never saw them live. 😩
I was always making plans for Nigel and couldn’t be bothered with looking good on Respectable Street. Yeh, yep, dodging that ball and chain and that awful Scissor Man. But when I first heard these guys it was love at first sight and i had no language in my lungs. I was burning with optimism’s flames, felt like I was living through another Cuba.
Great to hear this live set from Emerald City, Cherry Hill, New Jersey in 1981. Thanks guys!

A little urge for vinyl. Spent last Friday night with Renée and the youngsters for her birthday (happy birthday Renée!). Went to a “listening bar” after dinner and absorbed DJ’d old school hiphop on an exquisite stereo. Good stuff, but they could expand the genres a bit. Anyway, tonight’s spins were overdue. Been a while.

Well, tonight’s scrabble rematch with Renee did not go well for me. This was a sad outcome after my stunning victory a few days ago, where I fought my way back from a dismal situation with very few options. The letters were stacked against me then, and yet iI was able to reach deep into my bag of courage and triumph magnificently! Tonight though, not so much.
Luckily, Craig Ferguson has a Scrabble show on TV now (who knew?) that might give me some tips for next time.

On top of Ol’ Smoky. Recently rechristened Kuwohi, its Cherokee name. The mountain went by the name of Clingman’s Dome since the mid-1800s, until a couple years ago when the Cherokee restored its native name. A short steep hike, but well worth it.
