Founded in 2006 in Liège, Christine Colon’s shows tend to foreground the artist’s own trajectory over any fixed theme, using biography to unlock the work.

At ArtOnPaper, the gallery groups four printmakers and draughtspeople. Amélie Royer and Pablo Flaiszman both work the copper plate, building images through patient, plate-based labour. Stéphane Gerhards sits at the crossover of drawing, engraving and tattoo, using the body itself as a surface. Nicolas Wolkenar works abstractly, treating paper as material as much as support.

Gerhards and Flaiszman’s self-portraits probe gaze and intimacy; Royer and Wolkenar head elsewhere, into landscapes and abstractions where the figure fades without vanishing.

Stijn Seys — presented by Stek-Art

Opened in Torhout in 2024, Stek-Art positions itself as «a place to drop in and out» — a platform supporting both established and emerging talent. At ArtOnPaper, the gallery brings a fitting counterpart to that mission: Stijn Seys, a Belgian artist (b. 1995) who moves fluidly between photography, painting and AI-generated imagery.

Seys builds each piece through an iterative back-and-forth with staged photographs, adding and subtracting until an image settles into something dreamlike, dark-toned and slightly unmoored from time. He treats artificial intelligence not as a shortcut but as another instrument in the process — one that, in his words, demands greater intentionality, not less.

Founded in 2024 by Laurence Dujardyn, Sybil is a Brussels-based curatorial platform exploring where contemporary art meets history, architecture and design. At ArtOnPaper, the project brings together painters Mia Walker and Carlotta Bailly-Borg.

Walker was born in Paris in 2001 and is completing her studies in Visual Arts at La Cambre. Her canvases layer oil, watercolour and Chinese ink, drawing on her Jamaican heritage — folklore, myths, hidden family narratives — to build images that hover between figuration and abstraction.

Bailly-Borg, born in the same city in 1984 and a graduate of ENSAPC Cergy, paints bodies caught mid-collision: contorted, overlapping forms held together by loose, graphic lines that never quite settle.

Based in Antwerp, NQ Gallery brings together artists across generations and disciplines, guided by a conviction that art can hold space for reflection and discovery, not just for looking. At ArtOnPaper, three of them show what that conviction looks like on paper.

Alexandra Duprez discovered painting at sixteen, when she encountered Aboriginal. Her paintings stage a mysterious world where human and animal silhouettes stretch, fragment and dissolve into one another — the subject of Figures latentes, her first monograph; at the fair, that same imagery unfolds directly on paper.

Samuel Sarmiento, a Venezuelan artist based in Aruba, is best known for ceramics that carry Caribbean oral tradition and questions of migration and identity; alongside that practice, he draws, and it’s this body of work on paper that travels to Brussels.

Anne Griffiths, Canadian-born, paints landscapes as remembered rather than seen, her gestural lines and vivid palette turning place into something closer to memory; here, she brings that same sensibility to paper.

Belgian Gallery — Stand H1 - main section

Founded in 2021 in Ixelles, Belgian Gallery focuses on the Belgian contemporary scene, pairing emerging and internationally recognised artists across six or seven exhibitions a year. At ArtOnPaper, three artists represent that scene on paper.

Cindy Wright, an Antwerp-based painter known for large-scale, gritty photorealism with a macabre edge, also maintains a quieter drawing practice. Charles-Henry Sommelette, born in Liège in 1985, moves between oil painting and charcoal, treating the latter “as painting rather than drawing”; his charcoal and pastel works uncover what he calls the “urban wounds” of everyday life. Robin Wen, based in Brussels, creates hyperrealist compositions entirely in ballpoint pen, layering thousands of precise strokes into “anthropological objects” documenting the Free Party subculture she grew up around.

Solo Presentation: Shinzan Kurihara, presented by Gallery Kitai.

Founded in Tokyo in 1998, Gallery Kitai focuses on contemporary calligraphy and sumi ink, a practice it calls “Sumi-ism.”

At ArtOnPaper, the gallery presents Tokyo-based artist Shinzan Kurihara, born in 1984 and holding a brush since the age of six. His “MokoMoko-Border” technique treats ink as an unstable material, controlling its temperature and ageing to create blurred, textured strokes with no clean edge. The effect reflects his subject: the internal conflict we all carry and the porous boundary between individuals in an increasingly connected world.

Marieke Severens Gallery — Stand B2

Founded in 2013 as a Barcelona pop-up and rooted in Maastricht since 2018, Marieke Severens Gallery builds its programme around conversation, with talks and workshops alongside exhibitions. At ArtOnPaper, the gallery brings together four distinct voices.

Dorine van der Ploeg creates abstract collages from painted paper, exploring how light and colour shift within recurring subjects. Sjaak Korsten works across painting, drawing, sculpture and photography, repositioning everyday objects into new, poetic contexts. Marta & Slava — Marta Volkova and Slava Shevelenko — examine the dialogue between humans and nature through vases, drawings and playful scale models. Jo Frenken, trained as an architect before turning to fine art, draws on decades spent building the Jan van Eyck Academie’s print lab, creating conceptual work rooted in artists’ books and stencil printing.
