Yesterday, I drove around two hours and forty minutes to Sunningdale with my son Dhilan as my co-pilot… and came home on cloud nine. 🤍

He’d asked if I would take him, and I wanted to make it happen. Seeing him happy meant everything to me, and this trip gave me a chance to face my own fears too.

My mum brought me up to be an independent woman. I used to drive everywhere and feel confident doing things for myself.

Over the years, though, I started choosing to let my husband drive, even when he encouraged me to take the wheel. Sometimes I was tired. Sometimes I simply couldn’t be bothered. I’d say, “No, it’s okay, you drive.” It felt easier, and I got comfortable with that choice.

But gradually, that “I can’t be bothered” turned into “I’m scared to do it.” I was happy driving locally, but longer journeys began to feel daunting. Looking back, I could see how avoiding them had slowly chipped away at my confidence.

This year has been about reinventing myself in so many ways. With encouragement from my mum and my husband, I decided it was time to face this fear too. ❤️

The loveliest part was having Dhilan beside me. Whenever I worried about a turning or a junction, my co-pilot was there, helping me find the way. He was learning, I was facing my fears, and we were having the best time together.

And Sunningdale… what an absolutely gorgeous village. Worth every mile!

I came home feeling happy, confident and so proud that I’d done it. Seeing my son enjoy himself, spending that time together and making memories along the way made the whole day special.

Here’s to more road trips with my co-pilot — and trusting myself a little more. 🤍

A wife. A mum. A career in banking. A startup business.

And a goal of her own. 💪

Meet Aarti: Currently in week eight of her plan, with a week’s holiday included between these photos.

Her goal: lose body fat and look more toned.

With family, work and a business to build, she has plenty competing for her time. Her progress deserves celebrating in that context.

For me, this is what coaching should support: making space for your goals alongside the responsibilities that matter to you.

It’s the effort that really drives the progress. But you don’t need an empty diary or eight uninterrupted weeks to make progress.
