For our 10 Year anniversary, we set out to create a series of short films that celebrate some of Artshack's amazing teachers. Each film is an intimate portrait of our subject's history at Artshack. Here we have captured their relationship to the space, the essence of their practice, and their approach to teaching. Starring the one and only, Ivan Samuels @lambpots, @c4rlani Thanks to the amazing team headed by Director: @bonitasladen DP: @giorgi.kvelidze AC/B cam: @rodvln 2nd AC: @ninichikovanii Sound: @lindseycordero Producer: @jul_lewis Editor: @bonitasladen Color: @giorgi.kvelidze by @artshackbrooklyn
In honor of our 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY on Nov. 7th, we set out to create a series of short films that celebrate some of the folks that make Artshack so special. Each film is an intimate portrait of our subject's history at Artshack and thier relationship to the space. Here, we captured @rue.mahon, arguably the one who's been teaching at Artshack the longest (hint: she was practically born here 😍) Thanks to this incredible team: Director: @bonitasladen DP: @giorgi.kvelidze AC/B cam: @rodvln 2nd AC: @ninichikovanii Sound: @lindseycordero Producer: @jul_lewis Editor: @daniellouissgrizzi Color: @giorgi.kvelidze by @artshackbrooklyn

Our afterschool kids made beautiful frames with Eva Conrad and Whitney Chandler 👐 These photos are from Friday Kids, pre-glazing. As part of this exploration, kids learned about the profound cultural significance of monarch butterflies to Indigenous communities in and around Mexico’s Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve. There, monarchs are believed to carry the spirits of departed loved ones returning home to reunite with their families during Día de Muertos.
