These are some clips from ARThop on Mariposa and Fulton OCTOBER 1st!! There was a great variety of local crafters and artists and creatives of various mediums! This one was extra special bc HALLOWEEN duhhh 👻 but more importantly it marks the first time having live music performed by @jzamora28 . He was also kind enough to share the idea and his equipment to have an open mic where local talents shared their art! THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL THAT CAME LIT TO SHARE YOUR WORKS!! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE ATTENDEES THAT SHOWED UP AND TOOK AN INTEREST IN THE WORK. 🚨 Also month after month we have not had restrooms out there! We absolutely need restrooms in this area! For artists and attendees alike to have basic human needs met without having to walk a block. Spread them out and put them in the Mariposa and Fulton area!! El río San Joaquín tiene una antigüedad de entre 2 y 3 millones de años. Durante más de 8.000 años, los pueblos indígenas han desarrollado sus vidas en torno a él. Hace ochenta años se construyó la presa Friant y comenzó la actividad minera a lo largo del río. Sin embargo, este proyecto propone un cambio de técnica: pasar de la minería tradicional a la minería mediante voladuras con EXPLOSIVOS. El río San Joaquín, antaño caudaloso y poderoso, ocupó recientemente el segundo lugar en la lista de los ríos más amenazados de Estados Unidos (*America’s Most Endangered Rivers®*) de 2026. La principal amenaza son las voladuras en minas profundas, a tan solo 200 pies (unos 60 metros) del río San Joaquín. Cemex, una corporación internacional mexicana, ha solicitado un permiso de uso condicional al condado de Fresno. México incluso ha implementado estrictas prohibiciones contra la minería a cielo abierto y ha suspendido todos los nuevos permisos mineros en áreas naturales protegidas a nivel federal. Si en México no se permite la minería en fosas profundas, ¿por qué deberíamos permitirla aquí en Estados Unidos, en nuestro valle, en nuestro condado, a escasos kilómetros de nuestros hogares? Tenemos la obligación de proteger el río, tal como protegemos a nuestros hijos. Una simple búsqueda en internet revelará numerosas infracciones ambientales cometidas por Cemex. Si se aprueba este proyecto, Cemex tendrá permiso para realizar voladuras con explosivos durante CIEN AÑOS. Somos guardianes de la tierra y tenemos el deber ante las generaciones futuras de proteger el suelo, el aire y el agua. Tenemos una última oportunidad para expresar nuestra opinión. No todo el mundo tiene tiempo para asistir a una reunión del gobierno local, pero TODO EL MUNDO dispone de 30 segundos para firmar una petición. El jueves 8 de octubre, planea asistir a la audiencia de la Comisión de Planificación del Condado de Fresno. ¡Podemos lograrlo, Fresno! ¿No puedes asistir? Firma y comparte nuestra petición.
