ICE OUT

ICE has caused nothing but pain and hardship for its own American citizens, instilling fear in the everyday working class. People are afraid to leave their homes—those who helped build this country with their blood, sweat, and tears, still call this place home, even as the rest of the country seeks to push them away. They flee from threats to their lives in pursuit of a better life in America. Grocery clerks, doctors, construction workers, Uber drivers, lawyers, realtors, and bartenders—all people striving to live the American dream.

People are dying and living in fear. I feel safer already—my friends, family, neighbors. None of them are criminals. We have always been here, just like the Spanish language has. If you disagree with my opinion, let’s discuss it— but we do so based on facts, not feelings.

We're back outside everyone!!! 🕺

The winter was a chilly one and lasted way too long for my liking this year in Chicago.

However, those flavors that we enjoyed when we were indoors all winter can still be enjoyed all year round, so with that being said I present the,

“Smash Jibarito Old Fashioned” 🇵🇷
@bacardi Ocho 8
Bourbon
Plantain Oleo
Garlic tincture
Fatwashed Angostura
Served w/ Platano chips & a Charred pickled cherry tomatoes

This was a fun cocktail to make for sure, I wanted to create a cocktail that reminded you of the famous Jibarito but in the form of an OF two creations hailing from Chicago in one sip.

So we @platano.chicago collaborated w/ @smash_jibarito to make it happen. We take their spent plantain peels toss them in sugar and that's how we start the process for the oleo sacranem! Working with our cousins to create a sustainable ingredient, gotta love community!!
