POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Last night, the @xrmotion team took over @artechouse with thanks to @rendertoken and @otoy. We hosted our first conference nearly a month ago, now this, and I cannot WAIT until you see what’s in store for 2026.

On a personal note, it was overwhelming (in the best way) to be surrounded by so many local friends, both inside and outside of the art scene, and to be making new friends while engulfed by the art of other friends! It felt like a multiverse crossover. This song feels appropriate: “What’s going on?!”

None of this would be possible without the continued trust and support of our vibrant and talented community. Without you all, there is quite literally nothing. taken in ARTECHOUSE NYC by @arturojreal

If you know me, you know I’m a HUGE @itsyoungmiko 🇵🇷 fan. I made this visualizer/animation in Blender back when the MEIOMI track was released, listening to it on repeat the whole day. It came together in about 2 hours, and I’ll be posting more about that workflow soon, but right now I wanna celebrate that her new album DND will be out TOMORROW.

Nodevember 02 - Fire

Baby’s first fire simulation in Houdini! The scene took me under an hour to put together in Blender. I did it while half-watching The Woman in Cabin 10. Since this Nodevember is more about learning @SideFXHoudini and less about learning Blender, I’m saving sacred time by letting myself cut corners. I know I can prototype several scenes in under an hour using Polycam’s AI image to 3D model generator, so I asked Midjourney for an image of a cabin in the woods, used Nano Banana to isolate the cabin, then processed the cabin image through Polycam to get a 3D model of it. Rinse and repeat with the trees (which look AWFUL but it’s not about the trees!) and even the rocks and mountains (the mountains are just scaled up versions of the rocks) and BAM! The scene was done. Don’t need to spend too much time on it. BUT. BUT. The hours I saved getting the scene how I liked it were burnt (get it?) figuring out how to (properly) export the Pyro fire simulations from Houdini into Blender using OpenVDB. And now that that workflow’s been figured out, I feel a little (more) unstoppable. #Nodevember #Nodevember2025 #Houdini #Blender #b3d by @arturojreal

Nodevember 01 - Pumpkin

You know I’m a sucker for a challenge. So why not try this year’s Nodevember in a completely different software? And instead of starting small, why not go straight for loading in Gaussian Splats?

I got a free 6 month license to @SideFXHoudini AND @houdini.school thanks to the @xrmotion Conference (shoutout @debraisaac!) so I guess we’re diving in. Tomorrow’s prompt is “Fire” so if you’ve got Houdini resources or ideas, drop ‘em below! #nodevember #nodevember2025 #houdini by @arturojreal

I made this animation in Blender over the course of a few hours while exploring how I could use just one @polycam3d scan of a scene to create a completely new scene.

Longer form video on the process coming soon! #b3d

Last weekend I had the joy of attending BCONLA, the first-ever official Blender Conference outside of Amsterdam. It changed my life by bringing so much of my recent work full-circle.

Five years ago, while searching for ways to augment my work as a Technologist in Photo and Video Production at @Harvard’s @CS50, I downloaded Blender and (finally!) never looked back. As though the promise of a free and open-source creation suite weren’t enough, in Blender I found a strong spirit of community. The Blender community’s core values of creativity and innovation, community-driven development, education, accessibility, and inclusivity all rang true to the same ethos that drew so much of my attention when I’d first enrolled in CS50 online and ultimately ended up working for the course, imparting that same sense of community through education to millions of students in-person and online.

For any given toolset within Blender, you’re sure to find countless YouTube channels and Discord servers that are dedicated to resource and knowledge sharing. The idea is simple: collective growth and enablement is empowerment.

Supported by some of the very creatives whose tutorials and walkthroughs I’d been watching and learning from, I eventually became comfortable enough with Blender to start answering questions and making online tutorials and walkthroughs myself. These Blender experiments soon extended beyond my phone screen to augmented and virtual realities, and found me deeply embedded in the XR space.

It was through that content, community, and resources that @lookingglassfactory found their new Community Manager - how could I possibly say "no" to the opportunity to support, showcase, and champion creatives like myself and those around me in the context of bringing their 3D work to a group-viewable third dimension?

Attending Blender Conference in LA as a sponsor through Looking Glass and having the opportunity to represent our community of 3D artists and enthusiasts while providing value and a personal touchpoint for Blender creatives was a dream come true.

10/10 would do it again. And again, and again, and again.

See you at the next BCON!
