If you do all this, teachers won’t complain as much about pay. But they do DESERVE at LEAST a 10% raise in pay. (Not the fake 1.7% cost of living increase we just had)

1. Create well rounded students.
2. Hold parents accountable

3. Shouldn’t even have to say this one
4. No your child is not “safer” with a cell phone during class.

6. Require records to be sent BEFORE a child shows up in class
7. Teachers get slandered and put on leave for allegations yet there’s no consequences for the lying families.

7. “But he’s my star player” well looks like yall will lose games until he stops fighting kids. 🙃
8. Restoration is great! But it shouldn’t be a REPLACEMENT for consequences. It should supplement them.

9. We test more than we teach. What data is there to look at when we haven’t taught?
10. Half my board was state standards. No one reads - including me. Instead of LOOKING like we’re following them, let us just teach the standards instead of posting them for show.

11. Love my kiddos but it’s stupid to immerse them in an environment that’s focused on other subjects when they got to America last night 🙃 and no - that one translator that was funded for my room isn’t helping 15 English learners.
12. Repeat the grade. Consequences.

13. How can you require higher standards for tests but NO standards for grades ….
14. Letting a child take a test unlimited number of times is the same as teaching to the test. They aren’t learning anything except that mediocre work is rewarded.

15. Art teacher is teaching 2 math classes…. Also creating legal court documents for truant students across the school…. Some teachers do lunch duty on breaks….. covering classes during lunch….
16. Take that loophole out.

17. Reward teachers for doing the work.
18. We “HAVE” to attend back to school night, parent conferences, STEAM night, open house, etc. ok but pay us for those evenings.

19. Metro has done better about this but I know all school systems haven’t. We spend hours with strangers’ kids but we can’t spend any time with our own????
20. $200 is $20 a month for supplies. 🙃🫠

21. 35 to 1 is not feasible
22. That’s really a message to parents

@dollyparton 🕊️ Prayers to your family
Honored to have my work (and my former students’ work) included in her upcoming museum, but definitely not how I wanted to share 🥺❤️‍🩹 @dollyslifeofmanycolors by @artworkbysamira
