CAPSTONE PROJECT 2026 - FIT AAS

This garment was inspired by the song “Ptolemaea by Ethel Cain.”The song itself is about a girl getting cannibalized and killed by her boyfriend. I used this song because I wanted to make something that represented decay and cannibalism but beautiful. I also incorporated the artists’ style - 70s gunne sax dresses and her religious motifs and vintage aesthetics - into the piece. I played with symbolism of the ribcage with the fluting on the bodice. The feelings I wanted to represent was fear but also the calmness and acceptance after death. The pattern, dye, fluting, installing the grommets and sewing all from scratch.
