As a mostly self-taught artist, I’ve always found my own way. But I just walked out of an incredible still life workshop with the most amazing instructor Dominique at the Gage Academy of Art (@gageacademy) here in Seattle!

It’s one thing to teach yourself, but it’s another to have a pro gently point out the “little things” you’ve been missing. The way a shadow isn’t just grey, or a tiny shift in perspective you’d never have noticed on your own... It’s like a new set of eyes.

So grateful for teachers who can unlock a part of your brain you didn’t know was closed.

I wanted to give my friend (@myrahbisht 🤪) something handmade, so I painted her as the birthday cat she truly is 🎂🐾
