Once you know what failure feels like, determination chases success. The most important thing is you must put everybody on notice that youโ€™re here and you are for real.

To the westcoast ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ†, painted this in honor of Kobe day 8/24. Big ups to @exoskeletal27 @rondeezyyyy for inviting me out to throw down on the San Bernardino Westside. Huge appreciation to @division9gallery for hosting it in the front window on display for downtown Riverside to gather around. by @aryk_archer

Fix your course on a star and you'll navigate any storm.

Often time we see failures, arguments or set backs as end all when they're really learning opportunities. If you're still doing the same thing, then maybe it's the universe trying to tell you to adapt. It will be the same situation with different people somewhere else if you don't take that opportunity optimistically to learn and grow... magic motherfuckas. ๐Ÿ”ฎ๐ŸŒŒ by @aryk_archer

You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. by @aryk_archer

And on Sundays we're grateful ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

I took a backseat from paint for a few months and have strictly been drawing. It's amazing to not only see things come together but the progress I've made through hard work. I still have a lot of work to do but I've seen my strides in proportion, perspective and shading exponentially improve. This specifically was for a heads and hands class and it was one of the best I've had to date. Highly recommended. taken in Academy of Art University by @aryk_archer

Maybe I liked this meme for the tie dye, or maybe I liked it for the awareness. ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Often times we project. We can be human. There's human role models and they make mistakes. I often ponder if super heroes were real they might not be role models, just someone under pressure to be living up to not just others expectations but mostly their own. Things get sticky because we chose to challenge ourselves for growth within that reality. A lot of awareness comes from great challenge to recognize your own patterns. When you do you begin to let go of how others patterns challenge themselves because they diminish to affect you because you've become aware of your own. Boundaries are important and self discipline can be healthy and fine lined toxic. Be real with yourself. Love yall ๐Ÿ’“ by @aryk_archer

This was a great community project I was brought into by @musicchanginglives. We painted sidewalks surrounding an elementary school in Rancho Cucamonga. Not only does it surround the school but goes into the surrounding neighborhood. We completely transformed this whole neighborhood.

The love we got from the community was incredible. It's been great seeing the community and the children interact with the art, truly something to be proud of. It was a huge pleasure to work with all the other artists. It was the peak heat of Summer and we transformed children's walk to school to be fun, playful and imaginative. If you're in the area please check it out. It's just under 11,000 sq ft and so much to peep out.

Best part of this article being this picture was taken on the hottest day of the project and now my sweaty sausage fingers are famous. ๐Ÿ˜…โ˜๐Ÿค™๐Ÿ–ค #loveliveshere taken in Los Amigos Elementary by @aryk_archer

This was 5 years ago, @foxsports did a 9/11 clip on the community work I did in San Diego doing murals across the county, at schools and in different neighborhoods with @themissioncontinues.

At the time I was struggling with PTSD and my time post service. A good friend of mine turned me back to painting as a good vent. He made a lot of street art and was hustling paintings living out of his car. He knew I used to hit freight cars as a younger kid before the Marines so he got me painting again. I had a hard time finding work and eventually lost my house. I had a hard time mentally rediscovering who I was again and adapting to society.

Not long after this my buddy who got me back into painting was going through simular stresses. He got in a fender bender accident and it was enough to push him over the limits of anxiety. He drove his car straight to the Coronado bridge and jumped to his death. It was hard to be happy with myself and my painting career when this aired.

At the time I was hopping freight trains not caring where they went I just wanted to go. I began utilizing what my friend had taught me and began making street art in exchange for people's leftovers. Most times I felt people were so happy with my art they would buy me a fresh meal. Some let me stay the night at their house and even shower and do my laundry. I found love in humanity, a purpose, and eventually found love for myself and in artschool.

PTSD is still a struggle as it can be tricky because there are triggers. With everything going on in Afghanistan and the world it makes a lot of veterans feel unavoidably invalid for their time and efforts. Most need to be reminded of the love and appreciation in humanity right now.

I continue to do this type of community work to remind myself of why I fell back in love in the first place. Others may not have it as easy. The situation has triggered many of us and not all veterans know their purpose and it's easy to feel taken for granted. May we hold ourselves to be better company, build better communities and be there for one another.

Thank you to @themissioncontinues for helping me find my purpose post service time. by @aryk_archer
