This movie is so good. Poetic, visually stunning - it has the same qualities as the old fairy tales or old ways of telling stories. I'm both reminded of The Fountain visually as well as The tree of life and 1001 Nights tales and The Never Ending Story. You know, those fabulating stories where you get a sense that everything can happen.

Look at these! They look like foreshadowings of what to come if we're not careful... I played a bit around with prompts to create some baroque style images. These were some of them.

1: Look at that angel cloud arising from the atom bomb, ugh!
2: This angel is angry. It doesn't forgive that easily...
3: This cloud appeared when we first lit up under the kettles in our factories. The humans were so fixated with looking at the ground and at their marvel machines that they forgot to look up. If they did, they might've seen what were to come...
4: Okay. A slightly more hopeful angel. Is that dawn coming?
5: Or is it sunset? Look at that movement btw! Stunning!

Midjourney forest.

Doesn't this look like something out of a Miyazaki movie? I would certainly love to explore these forests.

I turns out that Midjourney does some pretty decent trees (even though it did take a long time).

It's easy to go down the "make it more epic and pathos filled" route in Midjourney. It does the 'epic' prompt so well.

Movements.

I got these images after some iterations where I picked the images with the most movement in them.

I really like the texture of these images: the drapings, the gold elements (which I didn't ask for, they just appeared), the details of the ornaments. And I like how these AI images could inspire artists to go in new directions with their art.

And the movements are quite incredible. Midjourney doesn't spit out what you want it to, exactly, but the results are much more interesting and inspiring.

I played around with some prompts as cathedral, 3d, gold, octanerender and got these after some iterations.

I like how they look like small models of both cathedral exterior and interior. And the ligthing is just something else!
I didn't even ask for the foggy background.

I wonder which references the model used. I would like to open up the black box and get to know more about the algorithms and how it decides how to put together the final image from different elements...

Another exploration of the same prompts for Midjourney: Butterflies, nebula, diatoms, gemstones.

I have thought a lot about what implications the AI image programs can have for artists and art in general.
In a way, this program is the fastest way of realizing an idea in your head. But mostly, the program takes you new places you could never have thought of yourself. In this way it can be a way of intially exploring ideas and concepts for artists.

But I've already come across people who sell their images as NFT art and who make money off of this. What affect will this have on art, when it speeds up?

Maybe this very quick way of making beautiful images and concepts (my evenings used on exploring Midjourney never compares to the hundreds of hours 'real' artists spend on perfecting their work) in the future will have the consequences that the documentation of the art proces will be just as valuable as the artwork itself. So that the substance of an artwork is cemented by the documentation of the proces. That could be very interesting.

So I asked the AI Midjourney program to explore variations of the first picture from the post yesterday.
I like how the finish looks like gemstones or resin/glass with inserts.
I also like how this AI makes people think about what art is and wonder about how AIs will impact our future.
The programme works in this way, that you chat with the Midjourney Bot in the conversation programme "Discord". You give the chat bot prompts through the command /imagine. For this picture series I summoned from the AI, I used the prompts 'butterflies, nebula, diatoms, gemstones' with further instructions on creating an image in a photo collage style, which is symmetrical and epic. And then the bot accesses the algorithms in the system Midjourney and it pulls the results for you. You get 4 image results and you choose to either enhance the ones you like or make variations of the ones you like.
In this way, you decide in which direction the image should go and you decide which kind of feel and look your images should have from your prompts. You'll get the best result if you include some word on how the image should feel, for instance 'epic'.
