During this year’s Addiction Medicine Advocacy Conference, ASAM members met with federal lawmakers right in their home states to advocate for better access to evidence-based addiction care.

In 2025, only 16% of people who needed treatment for substance use disorder received it. To connect more people with the care they need, ASAM advocates urged lawmakers to:

👉 Responsibly expand access to methadone for opioid use disorder by allowing qualified practitioners to prescribe it and community pharmacies to dispense it, with appropriate safeguards in place

👉 Close a long-standing gap in Medicare coverage for residential treatment programs that meet nationally recognized quality standards

The conference might be over, but our advocacy continues! Join us in advancing policies that can expand access to lifesaving, evidence-based care. 🔗ASAM.org/TakeAction by @asamorg
