What's in a name? A little story behind what #AsanteAsana means! 🧘‍♀️🕉️ It combines the #Swahili term for #thankyou "#asantesana' with the #sanskrit term '#asana' 🙏

On my daily #hotmomwalk, I noticed a group of women picking handfuls of frangipanis from the tree. In doing so, they broke one of the branches.

I stopped, quite disappointed, and told them that this wasn’t fair.

Immediately, they got defensive and exclaimed, “It was an accident.”

“I know,” I said, “but your intention to pick the flower wasn’t accidental.”

I was reminded of this quote by the Buddha and began to reflect on what practices in our day we choose to water and nourish with care in order to grow, and what habits we might continue to encourage simply because they’re easy to “pluck” — ultimately breaking our branches in the process.

It feels like a gentle reminder to examine our thoughts, choices and actions throughout the day and ask ourselves:

Are we watering or plucking?

Are the things we’re choosing serving our greater good and growth, or are they simply fuelling short-term gain and instant gratification?

Sometimes, what is easiest to reach for isn’t necessarily what is best for us.

Perhaps the practice is simply becoming more aware of what we are tending to — and what we are taking from ourselves — each day. 🏵️

Things I’m currently convinced are kinda chic:

Moving slowly.
Getting stronger.
Drinking cold coffee.
Taking naps.
Finding movement in the middle of motherhood.
And generally caring a little less about doing everything perfectly.

Stop waiting for the perfect moment to get something done.

For the long nap that might not be as long as you hoped. For the uninterrupted hour. For someone else to hold the baby.

This season is all about taking what you can get, where you can get it. Sometimes that might only be 10 or 15 minutes. And that's okay.

The good news? It still counts. 🙌

Ten minutes of movement. Fifteen minutes of reading. A short walk. A few moments for yourself.

My practice doesn't always happen without interruptions these days. But I've learned that imperfect consistency beats waiting for perfect conditions every time.

The important thing isn't how much time you have—it's that you keep showing up for yourself in the little ways that you can.

And it couldn't be more perfect than this 🤍

4 weeks in and learning something new every day. Postpartum looks and feels different for everyone, remember that comparison is the thief of joy and although it is wild, this time is precious 🤍 by @asanteasana

A special acknowledgment goes out to all the teachers showing up in their communities now, holding space for people to move, breathe, find relief and connection through practice 🤍💫

2025 was a monumental year for my teaching and personal practice 🌟

I completed my intermediate & advanced @balanced_body Reformer trainings with @laura_weston_ — challenging myself physically and expanding what I can offer my students.

I found a studio community I truly love at @kaizenpilates.ae — teachers, students and staff who make it feel genuinely warm and welcoming.

I also learned some harder lessons — navigating Pilates and yoga as growing industries has deepened my understanding of intention, authenticity and what truly matters in studio spaces.

This year, I began the greatest journey of all — my pregnancy — and with it, moving beyond fear and expanding my practice and teaching in new ways 🤍

Through Pilates (and the guidance of the wonderful Marianne at @coreconnectdxb), I’ve seen just how powerful this work is for supporting pregnancy and preparing for postpartum recovery safely.

And through my @birthlight_worldwide Prenatal Yoga training, my relationship with yoga shifted completely — learning to soften, let go and move intuitively as I prepare for motherhood.

I’ve been incredibly grateful to share this journey with other expecting mums through both prenatal reformer and yoga classes along the way.

Thank you to every student and teacher who’s been a part of the ride 🙏

I’m looking forward to allowing these experiences to continue shaping and strengthening what I offer my students in 2026.

Happy New Year ✨

The best distraction there is 🧡🐈

Working on creating a lot of strength and mobility in the shoulders and upper body these days 💪 which tend to get tighter as weight shifts to the front of the body more.

Exercises like chest expansion, hug a tree, arm circles, and serve a platter on a medium spring 💙 all important prep work for holding baby and nursing when they arrive 🤱

Same move. Different trimesters.
.
.
Before there is any confusion:
No, I’m not expecting a third 😅
.
…but if I were, I’d still be on the reformer.
Just like these two incredible mamas.
.
.
We’re showing how the same movement evolves through pregnancy.
🤰🏽I’m demonstrating an early-pregnancy variation -say 10 weeks 🔵
🤰🏽@asanteasana -21 weeks- takes it to the knees 🔵(option to increase load to 🔴for abdominal support)
🤰🏼@jess.casa -35 weeks- shifts to an upper body strong focus, with deep abs engagement to keep loading but at a safe angle 🔴🔴 or 🔵🔴
.
.
Pregnancy-safe training isn’t about doing less.
It’s about doing what serves your body best at every stage ✨

Happy International Yoga Day 🧘‍♀️🕉️✨

What a blessing to practice on a surprisingly pleasent summer evening in #AbuDhabi with good company @movingwithdezi - surrounded by nature🌱, listening to the sounds of the birds 🐦 as the sun set amongst the background of the iconic @louvreabudhabi 🌅

Thank you @yogaone_uae @minaleeyoga and the Indian Embassy for hosting this wonderful event and making the practice accessible for all to enjoy 🙏

In a world that feels uncertain, may we continue to heal ourselves so we can begin to help others heal too.
