I went and watched TV while my studio bounced 100+ a cappellas without me. 🤯

For the past several months I’ve been deep in a massive project, over 50 songs. When a request came in for a cappellas of every single one, I knew brute-forcing it wasn’t an option.

Enter @soundflowapp and @ascheps’s Scheps Bounce Factory.

First, I wrote a custom SoundFlow script to automate the tedious prep work: opening sessions, saving as, rerouting my mix bus for offline bouncing, muting my printed mix, disarming mute automation, duplicating a few inserts. Stuff that’s no big deal on one song but absolutely soul-crushing at scale. Now it’s one button on my Stream Deck. One second. Done. ✅

Then I layered in Scheps Bounce Factory. Using the new SoundFlow panel inside @avid.protools, I set up “wet” and “dry” a cappella exports for 50+ songs and saved each as a bounce snapshot in the standalone Bounce Factory app.

Here’s where it gets wild: I queued up 20+ songs at a time, hit bounce, and walked away. Bounce Factory took over, closing sessions, opening the next one, bouncing both passes, moving on. I hung out with my family, watched some TV, and got an alert on my Apple Watch when everything was done. 📱

Watching my faders snap into action on their own, sessions opening and closing without me touching anything... honestly one of the most grin-inducing moments I’ve had in the studio in a long time.

Enormous love and gratitude to my dear friend and mentor Andrew (@ascheps) for building this alongside the incredible team at @soundflowapp. Full-circle moment: so much of what I do in the studio every day traces back to what Andrew’s taught me over the years and albums we’ve made together. The fact that his tools are now giving me hours of my life back? 🥹💗

If I hadn’t invested time learning these tools, I’d probably still be in my studio bouncing a cappellas instead of writing this caption.

Andrew Scheps (@ascheps) is a Grammy-winning engineer, mixer, and producer who has worked with some of the biggest bands in the world, Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Audioslave, Metallica, Green Day, Linkin Park, Hozier, Kaleo and U2. He’s worked with legends such as Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond and Iggy Pop, as well as indie artists such as Low Roar, My Brightest Diamond, Motorpsycho, Rancid, Manu Chao, Tinariwen, Farao, CRX, Cass McCombs and Blood Red Shoes.

Andrew has been awarded Grammys for his work with Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ziggy Marley, nominated for Best Engineered Album, Classical for his work on The Blue Hour as well as garnering over 20 nominations in categories such as Best Rock Song, Best Rock Album and Best Hard Rock Performance. In addition, Andrew was named International Engineer of the Year Award by the UK’s Music Producers Guild and most recently won the MPG award for Immersive Mixer of the Year in 2026.

Starting out as a musician, Andrew discovered his true passion behind the scenes. He toured with Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, but he found his home in the studio, working for producers such as Rob Cavallo, Don Was and Rick Rubin. He has also produced Favez, Gogol Bordello, The Duke Spirit, Motorpsycho, Marti Pellow, and Low Roar among others.

In 2011 Andrew started Tonequake Records, a boutique indie label with acts including Low Roar, Favez, Fellow Robot, Act Rights, and Jeff Babko.

After 25 years in Los Angeles, Andrew relocated to the UK in 2015 where he set up Punkerpad UK which is now equipped for Dolby Atmos Music.

A brilliant afternoon at Tileyard Studios exploring Headphone First Dolby Atmos workflows with Andrew Scheps (@ascheps) and Myles Clarke (@mylesbclarke) from Dolby (@dolby_unitedkingdom).

Together with our event partner Neumann (@neumann.berlin), attendees explored techniques for creating Dolby Atmos mixes in headphones that translate brilliantly to a full studio setup for those all important final delivery passes. The session also looked at how Neumann’s RIME room modelling software can support the workflow, with plenty of discussion around what works, what doesn’t, what translates, what doesn’t and, most importantly, why.
