Calcio & Culture in the Heart of Veneto: Cittadella In the heart of Veneto, surrounded by medieval walls that have stood for more than 800 years, lies one of Italian football’s most fascinating small-town stories. Our good friend @calciocreativo travelled to Cittadella to discover the town, its football culture and the Granata supporters, documenting Sunday’s Serie C encounter with Treviso at the Stadio Pier Cesare Tombolato. Founded in 1220 by the city of Padua, Cittadella is celebrated for its extraordinary medieval fortifications. Four historic gateways lead into a town of narrow streets, picturesque squares and centuries of Italian history. But beyond the walls, another story has been unfolding. Founded in 1973 through the merger of US Cittadellese and Olympia Cittadella, @ascittadella1973 began a remarkable journey from the lower divisions of Italian football. The club’s rise eventually brought Serie B football to this small Veneto community, with the Granata establishing themselves as one of the division’s most respected and resilient sides. At the heart of that story stands the Stadio Pier Cesare Tombolato, a stadium that has welcomed generations of supporters and witnessed some extraordinary chapters in the club’s history. Today, Cittadella are pursuing another ambitious chapter. On Sunday, Francesco D’Alessio’s second-half goal secured a 1–0 victory over Treviso, strengthening the Granata’s position at the top of Serie C Girone A. For @calciocreative, it was another opportunity to experience the beauty of Italian football beyond the country’s biggest clubs. A historic town, a proud footballing community and a club determined to keep writing its own story. Behind the medieval walls, the Granata dream lives on. 📸 Photography: @calciocreativo & @g9nta.visuals 🏟️ Stadio Pier Cesare Tombolato 📍 Cittadella, Veneto, Italia 🇮🇹 by @ascittadella1973
