Introducing Ania Tomaszewska-Nelson (@tomaszewskanelson) at 24/7

Selected by judges Nicky Coutts and Danny Rolph for ASC’s 30th Anniversary Exhibition, Ania responds to the 24/7 theme with her new film, The Creature, housed inside a custom hunter’s tower crafted in Poland. Rooted in nature, her practice channels elemental powers and natural cycles that exist outside the demands of continuous productivity.

Private View: Thursday, 15 October | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

24/7

15 October – 26 October 2026
Private View: Thursday, 15 October | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Opening Hours: Weekdays 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Saturdays (17 & 24 Oct) 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Location: Gallery 1, The Handbag Factory

24/7 brings together new and recent works by three contemporary artists working within ASC Studios across London: Seungjo Jeong, Mizuki Tanahara, and Ania Tomaszewska-Nelson. Selected by judges Nicky Coutts and Danny Rolph as part of ASC’s 30th Anniversary Exhibition in 2025, the artists present distinct responses to the rhythms and frictions of contemporary existence.
Taking its title from Jonathan Crary’s seminal text 24/7: Late Capitalism and the End of Sleep, the exhibition examines the relentless drive of hyper-connected systems alongside the natural cycles that resist them.

✨Mizuki Tanahara directly engages with Crary’s ideas, manipulating digital indicators of time across installation and moving image to question how contemporary temporalities are measured, fragmented, and consumed.

✨Seungjo Jeong presents recent paintings of a CRT television, a VHS cassette, and an Amazon parcel locker, each keeping time differently. Together they trace the disappearance of the interval – the hours in which nothing was transmitted, nothing was playing, and nothing was due.

✨Ania Tomaszewska-Nelson offers an antithesis to this uninterrupted modernity. Her new film, The Creature, is housed within a purpose-built hunter’s tower crafted in Poland. Rooted in nature, her work channels elemental powers and natural cycles that stand outside the demands of continuous productivity.

Don’t Let That Horse Eat That Violin

✨PV: Thursday 15th October 6-9pm
📅 15th-31st October
Open: Saturdays & Sundays 11am-5pm or by appointment - please contact Alice @alice__mansfield
📍ASC Cleaver Street, County Courts, Cleaver Street, Kennington, London SE11 4DZ

Don’t Let That Horse Eat That Violin is the first group show by Painters’ Painters, a network of likeminded artists built online. It brings together a selection of painters wholly committed to their medium, who share an investment in the particular possibilities of paint. The show is an attempt to highlight the endlessness of such possibilities.

Together, these artists demonstrate the world-building capacity of paint. It can hold intimacies and desires that exist outside of language, narrative scenes that don’t exist at all, and perhaps most importantly a space where the playful, the mournful and the mundane are all welcome. Put simply: because painters paint, a horse can eat a violin.

Curated by Alice Mansfield @alice__mansfield who reflected on stepping into the curator’s role for the first time: “As a painter myself, it’s been really interesting to bring together a collection of work in this way. Curation requires a very different brain to painting, and I’ve really enjoyed the processes involved: finding a common thread, distilling the essential elements of people’s practices, writing, and trying to do justice to work that I really admire. It’s my first time curating, but it’s definitely something I hope to do more of”.

Foredawn
Vladimir Logutov @logutov_studio

Foredawn presents a new direction in Vladimir Logutov’s work, following Fire Run and Fireline.

Visibility has almost disappeared, attuning the eye to minimal changes, shifts of grey, the space between black and dark, and the faint movement of light. Darkness no longer closes the space; it asks perception to work differently.

At the centre of the exhibition is a new large-scale painting alongside a series of works on paper. Here, images exist at the threshold of emergence, appearing gradually through barely perceptible tonal shifts and the deliberate effort of looking.

Foredawn captures a moment where forms remain partly hidden in darkness, yet the expectation of dawn is already present—held between shadow, attention, and the possibility of first light.

You can find out more about this exhibition clicking Link in Bio > ASC Project Space Exhibitions > Foredawn

We hope to see you there!

Before our move to The Handbag Factory in Vauxhall, ASC Gallery called Thurlow Street home. In November 2016, we hosted Saelia Aparicio’s Burning with Joy - a dystopian installation drawing inspiration from J.G. Ballard’s novel and David Cronenberg’s film Crash (1996), the anime Akira, and Julia Kristeva’s theory of the abject.

Reflecting on the project, ASC Exhibitions Director Darren O’Brien recalls sourcing car doors from a South London scrap yard, which Aparicio then transformed with intricate drawings and suspended from the gallery ceiling on wire.

Swipe through to revisit the exhibition and read Darren’s reflections on this standout show.

Almost Together
Loretta Yussuff @lorettayussuff & Cathalina Navarro Lagos @cathacuts

📅 Friday 18th September
⏰ 6:30–9 pm
📍 ASC Streatham Hill, SW2 4TT

Almost Together brings together the work of Loretta Yussuff and Cathalina Navarro Lagos, exploring intimacy, distance and the inner worlds we can never fully know.
Through saturated colour, figuration and layered material approaches, the artists create spaces where interior life meets surrounding landscapes and domestic environments, moving between moments of solitude, longing, connection and observation.

Developed through an ongoing exchange of ideas across geographical distance, the exhibition reflects on what it means to reach towards another person while recognising the space that can never quite be crossed.

You can find out more about this exhibition clicking Link in Bio > ASC Project Space Exhibitions > Almost Together

We hope to see you there!

Looking back at The Commission + The Event at Canalside Gallery✨

Artist Tomislav Török Terek (@tomislavterek) brought a deeply immersive sonic and visual installation to ASC Ealing Road, collaborating with Italian sound art legends Capricorni Pneumatici for their 40th anniversary.

At the heart of the installation lies a map of the 1908 Tunguska explosion near Siberia’s Podkamennaya Tunguska River, an “invisible catastrophe” whose shockwaves inspired the sound and spatial dramaturgy of the entire gallery space.

Are you an ASC Artist and Interested in exhibiting in your studio building project space? We’d love to host your work. Simply fill out the application form via the ASC linktree in our bio, or head to our ‘Book a space’ Story Highlights to get started. 🎨✨
