Shots from Adrian D’Souza Quartet at Skinny Mo’s Jazz Club

It was a privilege to have the incredible Adrian D’Souza and his band at Skinny Mo’s. Alongside Paddy on piano, Aditya on bass and Aamir on guitar, Adrian took us through some world-class jazz, moving from bebop to modern jazz, with plenty of improvisation rooted in the traditional jazz style.

There were so many magical moments throughout the evening, with the musicians feeding off each other and the room staying right there with them.

We’re definitely not done with this quartet yet and hope to have them back at Skinny Mo’s very soon.

This is the water, this is the well - drink full and descend, the horse is the white of the eyes and dark within.

How a Bass Solo Wins an Argument!!

Step 1: Bass solo begins.
Crowd reaction: “Ah yes… time to discuss life decisions, order drinks, maybe call an ex.”

Step 2: I continue anyway. Confidence slightly illegal. Notes getting bolder.
Audience still talking. I get it. This is a safe space.

Step 3: Something shifts.
A phrase lands. A groove locks. One head turns. Then another.

Step 4: The conversation starts losing.
People aren’t sure why they’ve stopped talking… but they have.

Step 5: Peak.
Now suddenly it’s very quiet. Suspiciously quiet.
Bass solo = no longer background noise, apparently.

Step 6: Resolution.
Applause from the same people who were just discussing butter chicken vs biryani!!

Moral of the story:
No one listens to a bass solo… until they do.

And honestly, that’s what makes it fun!! 🤓

Still trying to make 4 strings behave.
If you’ve ever been curious about this whole bass thing… you’re not alone.

A small clip of my solo from last week @skinnymosjazzclub with @paddy.y.los.gatos

The tune is called Pa Gozar;
Meaning- (Slang/Speech): It is used in casual, upbeat speech to describe a party, a rhythm, food, or a life event that is meant to be deeply enjoyed.

I definitely had a Bueno pa gozar that night! 😄

I decided to not post anything music-related on my social media except material regarding my upcoming album because I felt like I needed to be more close to my branding.

There are many things independent artists don't share when it comes to writing, composing, recording, and marketing your album. Distribution, shooting content, reaching out to press, the works and more is some of the most taxing work I've done and it really tends to take you away from the music (if you ask me).

I didn't want to do that. So I picked up the piano and started playing chords. Kept playing a little more to finally arrange something worthy of being played on stage (if you ask me). If the music isn't a reflection of who I am, then I probably don't want to do it.

@therizconnection got back together for two special nights at @ampm.kolkata and these clips are from our gig last Sunday! Always a pleasure to be with my brothers @aservaia @supro_plays_drums - this is what makes me happy!

Here's a few clips from the gig because fuck this short content vertical crap.
