Losing my grandpa hurts more than anything, but knowing he lived 92 incredible years surrounded by the ones he loved brings me a lot of peace. Nothing I can say here could ever put into words how much I’ll miss him or how much I loved him. Everything he did for us showed how much he noticed the ones he loved.

My grandpa worked tirelessly to make sure all 14 of his grandchildren had the best time up at their cabin. Whether it was taking us tubing or snowmobiling, teaching us how to fish, or having immense patience as we failed time and time again to get up on the skis, he always had a smile on his face. He taught me how to drive the boat, always took us to the candy store, came to my gymnastics meets, and watched the meteor showers or stargazed with me on the porch as soon as he learned I love space. I have so many wonderful memories with him at holidays and birthdays, or of all the simple gestures he made that l could go on forever. My life would not be the same if it wasn’t for him.

I’m so grateful to have gotten 22 years with you grandpa. You were so strong, courageous, generous, optimistic, and devoted. You shined such a bright light on my life and I will never forget all you’ve done for me. I promise to live life the best I can and to enjoy every moment for you. I love you so much. Rest in peace grandpa 🤍 by @ash.sprague
