As I embarked on motherhood, I knew my life was going change — it was going to slow down and look a little different, adventures may be a walk to the park instead of an epic summit push, long trail trail runs would probably become bike path stroller jogs, ski weekend would be filled with a lot of lodge hangs— but it turns out, the slowing down is the best part. Life is a little bit slower, softer, and sweeter.

Here’s the magic though, in slowing down, I get to see everything again, through her eyes.

Holding her tiny hand, walking the trail together, and then watching her go on by herself with pure confidence and excitement — that’s the adventure I never knew I was chasing ✨

It’s in these slow moments that I find my cup most full lately by @ash_fass

One whole year of loving you, Nora 💕💫 This has been the most magical adventure yet, and it’s just the beginning. I love watching you grow into this little but brave girl. I love watching you figure out this world, and seeing your silly quirks. The way you squeeze your fists so hard and scrunch your nose when you’re excited. Your little teethy smile. How you wave at everything. I love the way you take your time assessing your surroundings and people before you show them your smile. You are my favorite person and I’m so happy I get to love you, nurture, and watch you grow 💫

I may have given you life, but really, you have given me mine.

Soul dog: sharing a once in a lifetime, deeply profound and emotional connection that goes far beyond a typical pet relationship. A dog that understands your mind and emotions without any words or training.

From the moment I held you, to the last— you were my soul dog. You always knew exactly what I needed, a wild adventure or your head on my lap, licking the tears off my cheeks. You were my rock of stability for over a decade of life adventures and changes.

This is just a glimpse into our adventures, your wild and free spirit, and our love. A love I will carry for the rest of my life.
