My book KILL CITY is out of print and there are only a few copies for sale on various sites, so grab it if you can find it. I have reserved several that I will sell (TBD) as first edition signed copies.

SHOTGUN BAPTISM III
Multimedia series, 2016 - present.

Shotgun Baptism embodies the negation of bodily autonomy. The dense watery ‘vortex’ in which the subjects are submerged depict various stages of entrapment. Like a psychological undercurrent, stereotypes attempt to dislocate, alienate and dehumanize.
The title of this body of work is a combination of terms that imply a coercive ceremonial induction to rigid religious and patriarchal standards. by @ash_thayer

I cherish the time I get to spend with my first and favorite art teacher, Bill Hicks, whenever I’m in Memphis. This visit we looked through six of his sketchbooks from previous decades while he shared the incredible stories behind them.

He’s also one of my favorite artists. My admiration for his many works exploring the male form has been an influence on my developing, as-yet-untitled *Male Sirens* project.

The third photo is of Bill, and the artworks pictured here are all his. He’s also an incredible photographer, with an amazing eye. Thank you, Bill, for these beautiful photos of me and continuing to share your life, work, and wisdom. I'll see you again, soon! by @ash_thayer

I am honored to be a part of this series of public programs around the exhibition "Through Padlocks, Behind Barricades: Margaret Morton's Glass House and the Squats of the Lower East Side.

Join us for a conversation with artists @fly_peops , @ash_thayer , @sethtobocman1988 as they discuss their practices and involvement in the squatter movement in New York City and beyond during the #90s . This conversation will be moderated by Amy Starcheski, oral historian and author of Ours to Lose: When Squatters Became Homeowners in NYC( University of Chicago Press, 2016).
