Happy Mother’s Day to all the mammas out there!

Grateful to have so many women to look up to and connect with, including my mamma who gave birth to me, my step-mamma, my mother-in-laws, and friends who are mammas. I honor you all today! 🫶🏻💐🫶🏻💐

Also grateful for the most amazing partner who always makes me feel loved and is going to be the best dad! Thank you for the Mother’s Day gifts 😘

SURPRISE!!! These two crazies are gonna be parents! 😅🫶🏻😅🫶🏻

After taking a big leap with job changes and moving to another part of the province back in November, we also found out we were expecting a week after moving - talk about new adventures! I never would have thought so much change could feel so right, and although we are a little (maybe a little/lotta) terrified, I’m so excited to be walking every step of this journey called life beside you Josh Nauta!!

Any baby tips are welcomed and appreciated - so much info out there for first-time mammas/parents!

Yesterday I got to take part in a bucket list adventure planned for me by my thoughtful boyfriend who remembered this was at the top of my list. What started as a fairytale sleigh ride through the trees with snow falling around us; a scene that perhaps would give Disney a run for their money, also centred around a proposal from the man I love.

Life has changed so much in the past 6 months and every leap of faith, bold decision, uncharted path has paid off with you my love, Joshua Nauta. Thank you for waking me up and walking this road of life by my side. I Love You!

Also, thank you to Gary the horse for mostly keeping us on the trail - you rock! And to Lloyd, our fantastic driver who was a charming, patient gentleman made for that role. by @ash_unrau

This Mt. Baker hike exceeded what I imagined it could have been, by far. The 360 views were equally stunning no matter what direction you looked - my favourite hike to date, and a much needed nature reset. Pictures don’t do this place justice.

Wildflowers galore, acres of wild blueberries, endeless meadows, several lakes with green hues, creeks and ponds around every corner, hairy trees, and our Starbucks barista even wrote cute notes on our cups that said “watch out for bears” and “enjoy your hike”.

A non forgettable experience, despite completing the last 6kms in increasing heat and no shade. Grateful for my hiking buddy. 🥾☀️ by @ash_unrau

Got to spend yesterday afternoon/evening finally conquering macarons with Miss Kiley and getting “stiff peaks” after failing a few times - if you have tried them, you know what I’m talking about! There may have been some cursing involved…

They turned out a bit chubby, but hey, with practice we will improve and I’m still so proud of us! by @ash_unrau

Happy Valentines friends and family! I’ve always found joy in giving, whether it be finding little silly gifts that reminded me of a person, so I bought it to reinforce to them that they are thought of, but this gifting also extends to my baking experiments. Always good to have Guinea pigs close by!

Most recent creations: chocolate cupcake with strawberry buttercream icing, Nanaimo bars with chocolate ganache top layer, and cinnamon buns - both sticky bun version with pecans and regular with cream cheese icing.

Grateful to spend a couple of short days in Saskatchewan where family graciously planned out an intimate memorial for my grandpa, which was so appreciated.

Despite the reason for gathering, it was a treasure to reconnect with family - some I hadn’t seen in around 26 years. I enjoyed meals, card games and even decorating my aunty’s 62 year old Christmas tree during my stay. The weather even managed to stay around 0-2 degrees for the 2 days I was there, yet was -20 to -27 before I arrived and the day after I left!

My dad “loves” all the cheesy complimentary marketing verbiage for Father’s Day, so what does a good daughter do? See cheesy complimentary marketing verbiage in the photo below; balloons, gift bag, etc. 🤣🤣🤣

Today is bitter sweet. It’s been one week since we lost gramma. She left behind a son and daughters who are without a mom today and surely missing her tremendously. Gramma was a witty, humorous and kind soul who helped create some special childhood memories that will never leave me, nor take for granted. I will miss you 😔

I am also blessed to still have my mom with me and to be spending some time with her today. Mom, you are sassy, have the biggest heart for giving to others, are smart, beautiful, and can fix anything. Love you 🩷 by @ash_unrau
