Calling all Black womxn and non-binary folks in the Hamilton area!

In honour of the National Day of Rest for Black Womxn you are invited to pause and rest in community on March 10, 2025, the anniversary of Elder Harriet Tubman's death.

There is one main goal of this event, and that's to rest. Periodttt.

Rest may look like you taking a nap, reading a book, colouring, journaling, doodling, daydreaming, doing breathwork or gentle movement.

What to Expect:
a quiet space to be at ease, to pause, to cease from our personal and collective labour
self-guided activities to help inspire your own rest practice (participation optional)
very short group guided practices sprinkled in throughout the day to help us deepen our communal practice of rest (participation optional)
complimentary hot beverages

Attire:
Whatever is comfortable for you. Pajamas, bonnets, head ties, and slippers are welcome.

Suggested Items to Bring:
A blanket, pillow and yoga or sleep mat. There will be a few extras on hand.
A reusable cup with a sealed lid if you want to fill up on one of the complimentary hot drinks.
That book you've been wanting to start, continue or finish.
A journal and pen.
Headphones if you plan on listening to your device.

Event Day: March 10, 2025
Time: 10:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. (drop-in anytime)
Address:  To be provided via email post-registration (central Hamilton location)
Contact: Bernadette - bernadette@coculture.co
Cost: This is a PWYC (Pay What You Can) event. No one will be turned away. Payments can be made by cash or e-transfer the day of. Monies collected will go towards the cost of the venue and supplies.

When I (Bernadette) the organizer of this event, dreamt up this space. I imagined seeing moms, daughters, aunties, and grandmas, friends, students, neighbours, co-workers making a choice to pause and rest together. I envision dark-skinned bodies, queer bodies,  light-skinned, and white passing bodies, trans-woman bodies, dis-abled bodies, big bodies, ALL types of bodies entering into a space of rest and ease together. This is an inclusive space of rest 💖
