@transpridelondon was so beautiful

I’ve spent so long away from London it hasn’t felt like the home and community I’d been building there for so many years. But then reconnecting with people there, reminiscing about our first Trans Pride London many years ago, the Transmissions meet-ups, @vfdalston . We were all just figuring it out. It all came flooding back and I had an emotional trip home!

I’m so grateful. There’s suchhhh a focus on our community, everything feels close, intense, susceptible, scary.

Did you know over 17,000 articles were published between 2019-2025… that’s roughly 9 a day. All of them discussing our trans existence and relevance…
Thats why we’re such a hot topic. That’s why the public feels like our identities are political. Look at the situation now… one of Reform UKs pillar of campaigning is banning trans ideology in schools… section 28??? Anyway, the ideologies were never there, but bullying and persecution was… and yet look how many beautiful trans people there are. 💜🏳️‍⚧️

We just want to live.

Had such a BEAUTY timeeee!
Honestly, I think it was my favourite. AND perhaps my most emotional year yet… joy, loss, community. It was so powerful simply to be with so many of us.

People worked so, so hard to make it happen.

SO SPECIAL to have spoken and sung at the @jollof.cafe fundraiser for @transpridebrighton !
We sold out n raised over £200 !

Beautiful food, beautiful community. Solidarity across communities is everything. We need each other so much right now.

It was really powerful to share the realities faced by the Trans+ community.

I haven’t had time to subtitle my speech. But you can read it within this post. I said we were the only community who has to justify our existence through statistics. That isn’t true, of course. Many communities who face discrimination have to do this too, so our struggles are even more interconnected. The refugee and asylum seeking community face this dehumanisation all the time. No human is illegal. Thank you @jollof.cafe
