When at rest, it folds its wings vertically, perfectly mimicking a dry or sunlit leaf

The elongated structure at the end of the wings is a long, curly tail-like extension branching off the hindwings.

The "False Head" Decoy: In nature, this extension serves a vital evolutionary purpose. When the butterfly rests with its wings folded vertically, the white-tipped tails mimic antennae, and the curved edge of the lower wing mimics a false head.

Hungry birds or lizards often target the head of an insect to deliver a quick, fatal blow. By tricking predators into attacking the "false head" at the back, the butterfly can escape with just a torn wing extension, saving its life.
