Came a long way to this version of myself so there’s no better time for a little reintroduction. 😊

I’ll never pass up an opportunity to tell someone I’m from the East Side. 😌

I thought journalism would be my forever career, but I’ve realized I never really stopped telling stories. I just tell them in a different way now.

I learned so much about the intentionality Disney operates with from the storytelling to the guest experience. I left that internship with a deeper appreciation for what it means to do something with excellence and build something that can stand the test of time.

What I love about strategy is that I get to bring so many of my interests into one place: storytelling, content, creativity and understanding why people do the things they do.

I’m really looking forward to getting back to this.

Sometimes I buy a book and not touch it for months, only to pick it up later and realize it was exactly what I needed at that particular time.

I’ll never forget my solo trip to Italy. The people I met, trying to figure out how to get around without looking lost, enjoying my own company…man, you couldn’t tell me nothing when I got back home! Lol

This is what a perfect day looks like for me. 🥰

I’ve been saying I’m “almost 40” for so long, I sometimes forget that I’m not 40 yet. This is for the 1988 babies who are still very much in their prime while simultaneously rethinking + redefining their entire lives.

What a time!

Every. Single. Year.

*deep dramatic sigh*

I’ve come a long way from using traditional milestones as my measure of success or progress. (Thank God!) At some point, I had to ask myself: Who made this timeline? And how much of what I thought I should have by now was something I even wanted?

Let me be clear…I’m still very ambitious. I still want a beautiful, full life. I’ve just learned that it doesn’t have to show up in a particular order for it to count.

Remember when your teacher would say, “Keep your eyes on your own paper”? That’s what I mean when I say, “I will stay in my story.”

I can’t measure the quality of my life by looking at what someone else has done with theirs. Their timing isn’t evidence that I’m late, and their choices aren’t instructions for mine.

I have my own writing to do.

*cue Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten”*

I’ve lived a few different lives over the past 10 years, and I’m grateful for every one of them. They’ve taught me that I’m capable of starting over, changing my mind, figuring things out and making something beautiful out of every circumstance.

So this year, I don’t want to spend so much time wondering whether I’m where I’m supposed to be. I want to put that energy toward living to the fullest. 
For me, that looks like doing the things I say I want to do, being a better steward of my time, making choices my future self will thank me for and actually enjoying my life while I’m living it.

I knew a trip to New York would be the boost I needed.

It may have been the show on Broadway or the block party that felt like a scene in Crooklyn, but I had the best time. Thank you to @raremocha and @randallstarr for making this trip so special! by @ashley_unscripted

My problem is I need to know everything is going to go the way I envision it…and if not, I need to know that too so I can be prepared. 🙃

But the scripture that keeps finding its way to me this week is Matthew 6:34:

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

The Word is literally saying take it one day at a time and that’s exactly what I’mma do. For real this time. by @ashley_unscripted

Nothing on the agenda, just pulled up to my uncle and aunt’s house this past weekend and chilled. Dassit.

We laughed, cried, plotted on how we could make this a regular thing…and somehow it was the cure I didn’t know I needed. As my life is settling, I’m still very much on go mode. Maybe I’m trying to make up for the time I think I’ve lost but I’m learning that even the detours and the slower moments have value too. by @ashley_unscripted
