as stories are shared and victims are heard, we are reminded of the heinous toxic masculinity that saturates the music industry. frankly, i’ve been outraged over this news, and many of you should be, too. this pattern of behavior is a result of a systematic failure woven through a culture that profits off of the faux reality of shows being marketed as a “safe space for all.” burger records and other male-dominated, heteronormative companies and groups who bait young women with their presumed progressive and inclusive narratives do not deserve to have a platform or a place in this community.your favorite musicians are NOT exempt from defamation or punishments as a result of their actions. as a young woman who gives much of myself to this community in hopes of feeling accepted and inspired, i encourage my peers to embrace this current momentum to shape the promising future of an industry where womxn are leading these task forces and abusers are held accountable. most importantly, as events continue to unfold, be courteous and provide necessary space for victims to tell their stories and take their first step towards healing.—#WhatAreYouGonnaTellHer @mickeyguyton by @ashleyaevers
