The Bosu ball is one of the easiest props to throw into a flow that just adds a little extra 👀 peep the wobble! This is utilizing my tower and mat conversion, but you can do this easily on a springboard and the floor. I have short yellow springs here, but I also like some of these moves on short blues! by @ashleydoespilates

A little glute burner to get the weekend started 🔥 little pulses with a straight leg make this quick series burn so good! One yellow spring, box flipped upright for balance support. This would be a great addition to a control class, or a barre inspired flow. Have fun!! by @ashleydoespilates

An around-the-world standing series on the reformer to start the weekend off right! Repeat the side series to the other side and then finish out with the opposite foot forward on the platform for the lunges. Only using 1 💙 blue spring with no foot bar (though it can be set low for some support if needed). And of course, wearing all pink in honor of Barbie 🩷💁‍♀️🤣 by @ashleydoespilates

A flow I taught this week in group class using just 1 💙 Blue Spring. This will take you around the reformer without having to change your spring load, and works both upper and lower body without any prop or setup changes, all while keeping those abs on for stability 😉 by @ashleydoespilates

✨Intermediate flow with only one prop: the box!✨

Standing work can be scary for some students (okay sometimes it can be scary for us teachers, too 😅) but I love this solution to that problem: long box on the ground. There are TONs of options you can do on the box in this position, but this particular flow consists of standing work that takes you from reverse, to side, to facing front really seamlessly. When you don’t have an extended platform, or a class level that allows for full standing work, the box is the next best thing!

For an easy transition, stick a red on and do some reverse abs on long box, then pop on off of there to the other side to finish out your series!

Getting creative with the dowel bar😎

Maybe one of the simplest props we have, I love figuring out different ways to use the dowel on all of the equipment, and this is a really fun sequence that works for a variety of students in group classes. I’ve done this in a control/barre class but it’s great for your flows, too!

Start on one side at an angle towards the risers, and hook only one rope on the dowel. Do your rows/lunges facing back, then flow to your plié oblique twists, and finish with your forward lunges/pushes with the opposite leg forward. Add some low pulses in the lunge, and some heel raises and pulses in your plié, for an extra 🔥🔥🔥

You can do a variety of moves for your transition to the other side, but here I hook both ropes on the bar and do some arm work facing back (though for some who want more resistance, it might require a spring change to one red).

I love a good around the world series! This one is all on the box.

This flow is great for intermediate students, though it can be modified for beginners (my beginner levels LOVE the kick backs and arm pushes, for instance). The best part is you’re already so low to the ground, it gets students feeling safer on the box with not very far to fall 😇

Movements are slightly sped up and reps shortened for the sake of the videos. I start with a pre pilates move of cat/cow, and I might throw bird dog in there, as the progression is an extension of the opposite arm/leg. Child’s pose on that box felt nice at the end, too. Before moving to the other side, I would throw on the box Long Box and do some abs, prone, or sitting strap work on the carriage. That way it’s there to easily set down on the ground (without having to lug the box to the other side like you just picked up your suitcase from baggage claim 🥴).

Hey there 👋
My name is Ashley, and I’m a Pilates addict 🤪Wait a minute—that’s not how that goes 😂 I’m a pilates instructor located in the Lake Norman area, just North of Charlotte, NC.

I’m a fully certified comprehensive instructor through @balanced_body and began my instructor journey in 2021. I started doing pilates in 2017 after needing a form of exercise which challenges me, and which focuses on a mind/body connection.

You can find me teaching at the local Club Pilates weekly (Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and every other Saturday). If private lessons are more for you, I have a home studio with a reformer and tower, as well as tons of other equipment to keep your movement fun and entirely focused on you and your needs. I also offer private mat pilates where I can come to you!

When I’m not doing pilates (but, you know, still in leggings 😅), I’m usually with my husband Frank, binging a good show on Netflix, baking a new recipe, or reading a good book. Sometimes we are traveling back to Michigan where I’m from and visiting family, and sometimes we’re traveling in the surrounding states finding new places to go and see (we’re total history nerds!). For my personal page, you can go here @ashleyferrovecchio

Follow along for inspirations on flows and moves I’ve used in my own classes, or just by myself! I’m so happy to be a part of a community as supportive, welcoming, and creative as the pilates-world. I might be biased, but we’re some of the best people out there 🥰 by @ashleydoespilates
