Meet Our Rural Health Transformation Team! ✨

Ashley Ulmer, RN, MSN, CNM | Clinical Supervisor

With over 20 years in nursing and 15 years as a Certified Nurse Midwife, Ashley brings a wealth of experience serving families in both urban and rural communities. From attending births and caring for newborns to critical care and community-based nursing, her career has been rooted in supporting women, families, and communities.

Having trained as a doula early in her career, Ashley has long been a passionate advocate for the essential role doulas and Community Health Workers (CHWs) play in creating healthier communities.

At the heart of Ashley's work is a powerful belief: We are all interconnected, and our communities are only as strong as the most vulnerable among us.

As Gateway's Clinical Supervisor, Ashley will help build sustainable systems that support our CHW Doula workforce, strengthen partnerships with healthcare providers, and ensure our work reflects the unique cultures, strengths, and needs of rural Oregon communities.

We are thrilled to have her leadership, experience, and vision helping shape a more equitable future for maternal health. 💜

One of Ashley's favorite quotes:
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" — Mary Oliver
