Download ![An open letter to myself: ✨
Dear 35,
You are the age I finally stopped confusing being good with being agreeable.
Maybe because I no longer need every version of me to make sense to everyone else. There is a little villain in becoming free.
You disappoint people. You change the rules. You stop auditioning for approval. You save your water for the right seeds AND fires. You choose the life that fits instead of the one that looks right from the outside.
Here’s to becoming everything you were told you couldn’t be.
XOXO

Download ![It’s officially my birthday. ✨🎉🎂💋
[somebody tell @therealtank to send me a voice memo of him singing happy birthday to me😭❤️]
Back to my birthday speech: And just like the phoenix rises from the ashes, so have I. Again and again. Every time life burned down a version of me, I found a way to rebuild, reinvent, and rise as someone new.
My first 35 years have been a collection of endings, beginnings, lessons, losses, wins, and more reinventions than I can count. For a long time, I tried to change the narrative, to make my story easier to understand, easier to accept, easier for other people to digest.
I’m done with that…. Welcome to my villain arc. 🖤
Not because I’m evil but because every good story needs a villain and sometimes the villain is just a woman who finally stopped asking permission.
Little Ashley is hugging 35 year old Ashley… she could not be more proud. And now she gets to watch me become something even more dangerous:
A woman who survived what was supposed to break me and became the woman I was once afraid to become.
Here’s to thirty-fine. [with just enough Jesus to keep this thing from getting completely out of hand.]
Consider this the warning. 🖤
