MEAR is back for year three! So excited to announce our four 2026 artists in residence. Here is @ashleypage.studio joining @margaret_lejeune, @ian_trask, and @sashoonya. Ashley Page’s interdisciplinary practice brings together textiles, sculpture, and storytelling to explore representation, identity, and intergenerational exchange. A 2022 Amelia Peabody Award for Sculpture recipient, her work has been exhibited at the Portland Museum of Art, Hunterdon Art Museum @hunterdonartmuseum01, and Center for Afrofuturist Studies, among other institutions. Seguinand Institute is proud to partner with @parsonagegallery to offer an artist residency devoted to exploring ecological issues: Maine Ecology & Art Residency (MEAR). This residency emerges from the shared vision of our non-profits to promote creativity and dialogue around the themes of ecology, spirituality, and the pursuit of the good life. The residency provides housing in waterside cottages on Seguinland Institute’s unique campus, occupying a wooded peninsula on the island of Georgetown, Maine. Four residents spend two weeks at Seguinland in December, and are invited to contribute the following year to a winter group exhibition at The Parsonage devoted to MEAR artists. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we announce more of our amazing artist residents! To learn more visit: seguinlandinstitute.org/mear parsonagegallery.org/residency And share widely! #mainecoast #maineart #maineartist #ecoart #environmentalart by @ashleypage.studio
‘Our Dreams are a Form of Divination’ is an ongoing inquiry in alternative ways to be in communion with the world around us. Composed of our thoughts, teachings, memories, and emotions - this exhibition invites audiences to consider how dreams untether our sense of reality and invite us to consider the alternatives. Dreams as a manifestation of how another world might be possible, such as was introduced by Dr. Martin Luther King in his 1963 “I Have A Dream” speech at the March on Washington in which he states, “...even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream.” In talking about paving a road toward racial equity amongst the American people, we can approach dreams through the surrealist nonsensical lens remixing of time, space and place, as depicted by Salvador Dali, playing with our perception of what is real and what is not. Considering divination as a practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means, dreaming is an opportunity the artists in this exhibition expand to the fullest capacity to envision something beyond ourselves. This exhibition welcomes Ashley Page as guest curator, with featured artists Raquel P. Miller, Kelly McConnell, Shey Rivera, Mark Anthony Brown Jr., Aina Sullivan, Aquarius Funkk, and Nicolas (Nico) DePamphilis. The gallery re-opens with a reception from 4-8 pm on Friday, September 18. Really pleased to have these works apart of Everyday Symbolic at Interloc Gallery (@_interloc_ ) in Thomaston, ME ❤️‍🔥 Thank you Alexis and Meave for having me, and creating such resonance amongst such wonderful creative company! If you’re in the mid-coast, you’re not going to want to miss it! More about the show: Everyday Symbolic brings together six artists whose studio work explores the relationships of diaristic contemplation, communication, and craft. Diverse in their artistic practices, backgrounds and stages of life, each artist has cultivated deeply intuitive and personal responses to the symbols and images that they encounter, collect, and transmit. Divining compositions from psychic spaces of grief, joy, and wonder, each piece - primarily paper and the printed image - conjures the artist’s interior landscape and facility in their medium. On view now through April 18 🌸 Slide 1-2: Tools of the Divine Slide 3-4: Dreamscapes . . . . #handmadepaper by @ashleypage.studio
In Black Seeds (Dispersal), clusters of seeds woven together represent themes of transmission, regeneration, and growth. Ashley Page is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Portland, Maine. Her studio practice and curatorial projects service as vehicles for storytelling, representation, and intergenerational exchange. This is the last week to view Page’s work in the group textile-based show, Artist/Fabricator, on view through December 5. Image: Ashley Page, Black Seeds (Dispersal), 2024. Here & Elsewhere opens this Friday, October 17, 6-9pm at All Street Gallery’s East Village location (77 East Third Street, New York, NY 10003). The show features works by Golnar Adili, Paria Ahmadi, Setare Arashloo, Ashley Page, and Kyung Eun You and is co-curated by All Street Collective members, Eden Chinn and Cora Hume-Fagin. By foregrounding women artists, those often positioned as reproducers of both familial and cultural lineage, this exhibition expands printmaking into a language of survival and regeneration. Across varied approaches, from book arts and embroidery to silkscreen, lithography, photography, and installation, each work is marked by meticulous craft and profound emotional charge. Inherent to each of their practices and printmaking as a medium is an aggregation of time spent with each image, a necessarily slow pace, and a traditionally feminine approach to craft through care and attention to detail. The show will be on view through November 30. Verrrryyy excited for these works to be apart of Artist/Fabricator at the University Museum of Contemporary Art, UMASS Amherst (@umass_museum_umca )💞 On view from September 12th – December 5th, come pay them a visit! If you’re in Western Mass (or need an excuse to be) feel free to drop by the opening on Friday, September 11th 5-7pm (I’ll be with you in spirit 👻) Artworks in order: Slides 1-2: Burst Slides 3-4: Black Seeds (Dispersal) Slides 5-6: Emerge Check out the full exhibition statement: For the Fine Arts Center’s fiftieth anniversary celebration, Artist/Fabricator reinterprets the University Museum of Contemporary Art’s inaugural show, Artist & Fabricator, which explored collaborations between artists and industrial fabricators. Artist/Fabricator shifts the focus from artist-and-fabricator to artist-as-fabricator, emphasizing handcraft, tactility, and a rejection of industrialized production. Featuring eleven artists who integrate textiles into their studio practice, the exhibition explores fabric’s rich associations — textiles as objects, networks, or connections — and its flexibility, both physically and conceptually. The artists highlight the use of fabric as a disruptive medium, manipulating it to reject stylistic conventions and to signal experimentation. The artform has roots in the feminist movement. Fabric serves as a medium through which these artists innovate and address cultural and global themes, gender identity, maternal relationships and knowledge, concepts of home, and immigration. The works of art blur artistic boundaries while highlighting the historical and allegorical significance of fabric in bringing people and ideas together. Artist/Fabricator redefines the relationship between art, material, and meaning in contemporary sculpture. Featured artists include: Sara Stefana Smith, Nina Elder, Lisa Iglesias, Maria Molteni, Katarina Weslien, Bhen Alan, Andy Li, Ashley Page, Carlos Bautista Biernnay, Sarah Amos, and M. Sylvan Robinson. This exhibition is supported by the Women for UMass Amherst. . . #contemporanyart #sculpture #sculpturalpapermaking #bipocmakers #contemporarycraft #umassamherst #floral #artofinstagram by @ashleypage.studio
