Holly Dolly, love of my life, my heart and soul.

Oh baby girl, I have dreaded this day since the day I met you. You have been my whole life, my personality, and my rock since you were 6 weeks old and I was 18. Saying goodbye to you feels impossible.

If you know me, you know Holly. We’ve been a package deal since the day she became mine. It was always Ashley and Holly. Everyone knew that where I went, Holly came too.

I brought her everywhere with me, to dates, dinners, bars, clubs, work, zoos, movies, airplanes, boats. And when Holly could no longer fly, we road-tripped everywhere. If I was going somewhere, 99% of the time Holly was coming too. It was just expected. She was the most well-behaved Boxer.

Holly, you will never know how much I love you.

You were my first friend in LA, and for 13 beautiful years you got me through life. There were so many times over the years when I was afraid, but I always knew I would be okay because I had you. You were always there.

And that was just who Holly was. She wasn’t your average dog.

Holly was the kind of dog where you could look into her eyes and know exactly how much she loved you. She made everyone feel special and somehow had her own unique bond with each and every one of her people. Every life Holly was a part of, she touched.

It has been such an honor to hear the stories of how she changed and helped people besides me throughout her life. I truly believe Holly was sent to Earth with a very special mission. I always said she earned her wings just by taking me on as her mission.

And baby girl, I know you accomplished it.

Selfishly I wish you hadn’t so you’d still be here with me. Because I still need you.

You were also the strongest little girl I have ever known. A true warrior. From stomach and intestine surgery, eye surgery, mouth surgery, a toe amputation, two torn CCLs, ARVC, stray dog attacks, and thousands of vet visits, you fought like hell through every single thing life threw at you never showing fear or pain.

Right up until your last breath, you were fighting.
