I was devastated when I found out I was pregnant. I was living my dream life traveling the country in a conversion van with my dog. Everyday was an adventure and responsibilities were at an all time low. I spent my days with friends, going on spontaneous adventures and experiencing the beauty of our planet.

I was depressed my whole pregnancy. Grieving the life I had, knowing it was slipping away. Yet, preparing for the future by doing all of the things I had to do. Sell my van, buy a car, get a job, prepare for a baby.

Time slowly passed and then I had my baby. Suddenly everything changed. The love I experienced with her was so great that it outweighed anything I’ve ever experienced before her. Her second week of life, we brought her to the river for a nature walk and I realized…. The adventures don’t have to stop. They’re just going to be different.

And so we took her with us. Camping, hiking, road trips, wherever we wanted to go. The joy was immense doing the things I love with her. And life felt more purposeful.

So if you find yourself sad and grieving your old life. That’s okay. In fact, it’s a good thing. You experienced such great joy and freedom and now things are changing. But I promise you, the adventure you are embarking on as a parent will be your greatest adventure yet 🩷

We took our daughter on her first rafting experience when she was a 1 year old (on a class 1 river section) and this summer we are doing the same on a class 2 river section 🌊

The most difficult part in our experience was getting her used to her pfd (personal floatation device) and we conquered that by having her wear it often and getting used to it! She LOVES floating on the river and rafting through small rapids 😍 She would most likely love bigger rapids (class 3) but until we know she can independently swim we aren’t boating those river sections with her for safety reasons.

Plan to pack a sun shirt, sun hat (my toddler often refuses these) and more snacks and water than you think you would need 🫡 We store everything in a dry bag that seals and keep everything 100% dry. Crocs or water shoes are a great option to protect the feet.

There’s no experience I treasure more than watching the pure joy & excitement of my 2 year old on the river! It’s so fun to look at ducks, geese, deer, beavers and all the fun little river creatures 🐠

If you’re debating taking your little one down the river… I say do it! Just make sure the river conditions are safe and that you’re all properly wearing a pfd 🌊

JUST MARRIED 💍 6•12•26 💍

Exactly two years ago from this date, Stu proposed to me by the Animas River in Durango, CO. It only felt right on our roadtrip back to our favorite place that we finalize our marriage and leave here husband & wife 🤍

We plan to celebrate with our close friends & family at a future time… dare we say a remote river trip venue? 🫣 But until then, you can call me a WIFEY 💍

You’re NEVER too old to learn something new & DONT FORGET THAT 🙌🏽 If it makes you happy or you just want to do it- you have to listen to that calling and do ittttt 🤩

Right now I’m learning white water kayaking and it’s been so fun & challenging 🌊 I’m an experienced river surfer and raft guide but this sport feels completely unique and difficult in its own ways (iykyk). I’m looking forward to the day that I can kayak with my family and tell my daughter I learned this sport when she was 2 years old 🥹

On our drive yesterday we made a pit stop on Route 66 in Oatman, AZ 🌵 I’ve been here once before but it was way more fun this time with Wrennie! This little tourist town is full of donkeys, souvenirs, ice cream and so many cool kid activities ☀️ Nothing beats a dog friendly town as well. All the stores and restaurants welcome dogs to come inside, they just can’t get close to the donkeys! I would recommend this for a passing through day trip 🚙
