Am going to keep working in to this. I want to incorporate a banana tree somewhere 🤷🏻‍♂️

*Work in progress. 3 detail shots from a 60x60cm landscape on board. Playing around with shapes and textures. Photographed under the grimy yellow light of an antique lamp so who knows how the colours will look tomorrow…

Couldn’t be prouder of my gorgeous pal, the incredible @annmsuganami who has made such a fantastic body of work ‘Olion Bywyd | Life Lines’ showing at @gallery__ten in Cardiff right now. I could gush for paragraphs but I’ll restrain myself! I will say, if you’re near or far, call a friend and go and see the exhibition. It’s there for another 5 weeks and it will nourish the soul. Also, support that stunning local gallery.. it’s a haven. Bravo Annie Cariad… proud as punch for you ❤️

Work in progress! Guess what I have left to paint… 🤔😅 oh and yeah, painting a face the size of a 5p is hard going.

Another WIP. Another painting of the matriarch (because she’s so satisfying to paint, for so many reasons). I started this in Sept 2023 and have left the last 20% unfinished for 2 years.. standard. Must *must* finish it. Posting for accountability 😜

Also, it has to be said that this in many ways is a collaboration between @annmsuganami and me. Even though Annie didn’t paint any of it, I was at the time reflecting so much on her approach of ‘moving paint around the canvas’ almost sculpturally as well as aiming for an impression of the figure rather than maximum figurativity. Check out Annie’s work and BASK in the splendour.

Little study of a nice painterly scene in mid Wales somewhere… acrylic on canvas and a sketch. Not very keen on this style of painting but was fun to do. ‘24

WIP. One of my most ambitious pieces yet.. it’s taking time! I’m about 22 hours in to this so far.. and acrylic is a nightmare for blending. Will need to move to oils fairly soon. Acrylic on canvas. 100x100cm

Also my easel broke 2 days ago - it was a 21 year old gift from my paternal grandparents.. sad times, hence towelled sideboard!
