Happy Coaches Day to Coach @calvinlaa and Coach @ashteebs! Watching you both take charge at the Michigan State Weightlifting Championships was a proud moment for the club. Your growth as coaches shows every day in the gym, and States put that on full display - knowing when to push, when to settle an athlete down, and how to help them step onto the platform with confidence. Trusting you to lead is easy because I see the consistency, intensity, and care you bring to our athletes. You understand what they need, and you show up ready to give it. That’s leadership. Thank you for everything you put into this club and the people in it. Proud to coach alongside you both and grateful to know our athletes are in your hands. —— @motorcitybarbellclub @michigan_weightlifting @usa_weightlifting —— 📸 @rjm.creations by @ashteebs
This past weekend, you completely caught us off guard. The “money tree” filled with Maya Bucks was one of the most thoughtful and meaningful gifts we’ve ever received. What started as a playful idea carried an incredible amount of love, and we’re truly overwhelmed by your generosity. For so many of you, Maya wasn’t just our dog - she was part of the club. She spent 9 of her 14 years greeting members, wandering the gym, asking for snacks she definitely didn’t need, and becoming part of the daily rhythm that made MCB feel like home. Knowing that so many of you loved her as one of your own means more than we can put into words. To everyone who donated in your own way, reached out, checked in, sent kind messages, shared your time, or simply kept us in your thoughts over these past few months - thank you. Your support has helped carry us through one of the hardest seasons we’ve faced. We often say MCB is more than a gym. This was another reminder that it’s true. From Ashely and me, thank you for loving Maya, and thank you for being the community that you are. by @ashteebs
Today marks 5 years of marriage with this handsome guy. Life feels a little different lately but thankful to have each other through this season and that Maya was able to celebrate so much life with us 🖤 by @ashteebs
There aren’t enough words to express my love for Maya and the heartache of losing her. She was such a special gal that was loved and cared for by so many people. She was an independent girl but collected friends everywhere - the gym, my office, the internet, even Wendy’s! To know her love is a gift - a really, really special one. Maya is one of a kind soul dog. I’m lucky to have been shown that kind of love and joy but dang… the nugget sized hole in my heart is a big one. I just can’t wrap my head or heart around the loss. The house is too quiet without her borks. Forever grateful Justin and Maya came trotting into my life and furever changed it. 9 years just wasn’t enough time; I don’t think a lifetime would have been enough with our Maya Bear. by @ashteebs
A Love Letter to Maya 🖤 14 years with you wasn’t enough. May 14th, 2012 was your gotcha day — less than 30 days out from active duty service. You army-crawled to me the first time I met you at 6 months old. I had plans to visit a few others, but right then I knew you were about to be my furever best friend. Puppy Maya was a tiny 20 lbs and the sweetest little girl. A rough patch of mange from birth had your beautiful coat shaved, giving you that unforgettable bowl haircut from your head up. Car rides made you sick initially, but one day you finally put your head out the window and you never took it back — you were my copilot. Young Maya was a rambunctious gal. She got into everything and anything but was always down for anything. She spent her days chasing squirrels on Squirrel Rd, coaching me in our garage, bouncing through snowpocalypse snowdrifts like a bunny, and exploring our new home here in Metro Detroit, finding any outdoor trail or park we could visit. We shared ice cream, burgers, chicken nuggets, and any and all types of bread. (Fresh baked was your fav.) I quit my job and built you not one, but three gyms, each bigger than the next, to be with you daily. To give you space to love and grow with many friends who loved you unconditionally as well. Adult Maya found herself a furever brother, Mikey (RIP), Luna, and Macaroni, but most importantly, a dog mom who loved her unconditionally. Ashely loved you from the moment she met you and carries that love on. From that moment on, you were no longer just my girl — you were our girl. (Continued in comments) by @ashteebs
Happy Halloweenie MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA by @ashteebs
Fun fact - @ashteebs was thrown into this life the moment she started dating me. From the very beginning she supported me wholeheartedly, and what started as being my number one super fan has turned into her taking charge as an incredible coach, co-owner, and the person who now coaches me. Coaching is about patience, leadership, and helping people find their strength. Doing that together, every day, and building something we both believe in has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. Grateful for the athletes, the community, and for the person beside me who never hesitated to step up, lead, and make me better too! by @ashteebs
Roses are red Violets are blue Cheers to 4 years of Supinos pizza and Miller Lites with you 🖤 by @ashteebs

IVE WANTED TO SNATCH 45kgs SINCE I STARTED WEIGHTLIFTING AND I DID IT!!!!!! I’m big proud of this one guys. Big thanks to @balancedpt_mi for giving me new shoulders, team @motorcitybarbellclub for the being the best, most supportive group of humans, and @justin.tebedo for reminding me that I’m capable of this and so much more (ooooo and for not firing me as an athlete). And also shout out to me for all the hard work and consistency 💁🏻‍♀️ by @ashteebs
MCB community is unmatched. I love these people, the care and love for each other, and their dedication to showing up for themselves and for @motorcitybarbellclub 🖤💙 by @ashteebs
Now that I’ve fully recovered from the physical and emotional whirlwind that is States … LOOK AT THESE AMAZING HUMANS… LOOK AT THEM! I love them. I’m proud of them. I’m glad I get to call them my friends. I’m so lucky to be the one laughing and cheering for every meet, lift, medal, miss, and PR. As the girlie who stayed in marching band get out of gym in high school I never imagined a fitness community like @motorcitybarbellclub would mean so much to me. There’s just not enough words to express my gratitude and love for them. And as always, the most grateful for @justin.tebedo who allows me to help coach him at meets, learn from him, and grow together! by @ashteebs
