Every man dies, that part is already decided.

What isn’t decided is how he spends the years before it. Paul didn’t face the end with fear, because he knew where his life had gone: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). The goal was never a long life but it was a life spent on the right things.

It never starts with the wheel, it starts with the passenger seat.

One compromise you call harmless, one habit you think you control, one door you leave cracked. Give him an inch and he takes the road. Scripture is clear: “Do not give the devil a foothold” (Ephesians 4:27). Sin is crouching at the door, and you must rule over it (Genesis 4:7).

Gideon was hiding when God found him. Threshing wheat in a winepress, afraid of the enemy, convinced he was the least of the least and God’s first words to him were “The LORD is with you, O mighty man of valor” (Judges 6:12).

Every man is chasing something.

Approval, status, respect, a seat at the right table. The problem isn’t the chase, it’s the target.

A man who lives for the approval of people becomes a servant to every opinion in the room, and opinions shift with the wind.

Paul draws the line plainly: if he were still trying to please men, he wouldn’t be a servant of Christ (Galatians 1:10). You can’t serve both and one will always cost you the other. #ashtoaltar by @ashtoaltar
