En tout cas ce que je peux vous garantir c'est que : "le génie du mal" lui, il loge à la cathédrale Saint-Paul de Liège.
Cet ange déchu est un élément constitutif de la chaire de la cathédrale. Installée en 1848, la statue de Guillaume Geefs remplace, en fait, une sculpture créée précédemment par son frère cadet Joseph Geefs, retirée de la cathédrale en raison de son attrait distrayant et de sa beauté malsaine... pourtant qualifiée « l'une des œuvres les plus troublantes de son temps »... D'ailleurs, l'administration de la cathédrale déclara : « Ce diable est trop sublime ». La presse locale a laissé entendre que la sculpture distrayait les jolies filles repenties qui auraient dû écouter les sermons...

L'historien d'art belge Jacques Lennep examina comment la conception du Génie du Mal a été influencée par le long poème philosophique d'Alfred de Vigny « Eloa ou la sœur des Anges », publié en 1824, qui explore la possibilité de rédemption de Lucifer à travers l'amour. Dans ce poème narratif, Lucifer cherche à séduire la belle Eloa, ange née d'une larme versée par le Christ à la mort de Lazare de Béthanie. L'amant satanique est « littéralement un beau diable, physiquement superbe, intellectuellement brillant, irrésistiblement charismatique dans le discours et la manière » : en bref, un héros romantique.

« Puisque vous êtes beau, dit naïvement Eloa, vous êtes bon sans doute ».

Lucifer déclare « Je suis celui qu’on aime et qu’on ne connaît pas » et dit qu'il pleure pour les esclaves et leur accorde le sursis occasionnel du plaisir ou de l'oubli. Eloa tente de le réconcilier avec Dieu mais Lucifer ne peut pas mettre de côté son orgueil destructeur. En fin de compte, l'amour d'Eloa la condamne à l'enfer avec Lucifer, à qui son triomphe sur elle n’apporte que tristesse.

On the first day of spring last year, I had the priviledge of visiting the cathedral of Chartres, France. One of my long time dreams. This sacred space is known as one of the best preserved Gothic cathedrals in the world, and one with the most mystical atmosphere. Positioned directly on a Druidic sacred well and funded by the Knights Templar, it stands as a pure expression of beauty, mysteries, and of the Spirit of the Middle ages. This Spirit truly is palpable - you can feel it in the stone figures and their lively essence, expressed in their grace and in the intricate details of their bodies and draperies, in the varied structures of stone, culminating in the labyrinth at the cathedral's centre. Chartres is one of the places that thought me a lot. If you ever find yourself in Paris, do take a detour.

Samhain/Halloween 2023 highlights & some updates 🖤🍂

This Samhain (or All Souls Day, which ever one you celebrate) was one of the most special for me, if not THE most special up to this point. Even though this time of the year is generally "my" time, as I feel most in tune with myself and the world around me during fall, this is the dark season I'm feeling the most. Those of you who know me know that I've had a very close family member pass on to the Other world quite recently, and I've been spending lots of time by myself and taking care of my family. Being present for myself and for the ones I love the most, allows me to be present for the wondrous and inspiring energies of the dark season. I am immensely grateful for being able to be where I am, for being so open and receptive to the beauty that is all around me and for loving my family and friends. I'm grateful for the lessons those who passed have given me, and for being able to employ them as I continue my journey.

I made some traditional soul cakes this Samhain, and they came out amazing!
I also made myself a pair of horns, as I had to throw away my last ones.
I've been enjoying the crisp air, the fallen leaves and the slowness of everything. It truly is a season of change.

This weeked was... something else. June 17th was my birthday and on the 18th goddess Florence blessed the amphitheatre of Pula with her enchantments.

We also visited the underground tunnels from the time of the World wars in Pula.

Great company, high magic, grateful for being here ❤️

🌓 Ecclesia and Syngoga (Gothic statues from the Strasbourg Cathedral, 13th century)

Ecclesia (Church Triumphant - left) and Syngoga (right) are one of the most famous Gothic statues that once adored the richly ornamented exterior of the Strasbourg Cathedral. Since their former places on the southern portal of the Cathedral are now occupied by their replicas, one can meet them up close and let their magic and wonder open worlds in you. Worlds you never knew you could access.

An elegant and almost stern-looking Ecclesia holds a triumphant posture, one accentuated by the large cross that she is holding in her hand. Her gaze is like a spear of doubt, one that makes the Syngoga, even though blind, sway away in pain. The Syngoga represents the broken soul, that by being eternally blind, fails to see the Light. Her head is tilted downwards, her torso contorting in stiff, almost heavy movement - all express a soul-level regret. Likely just because of that, the Synagoga is one of the most beautiful statues I've been able to communicate with. Maybe I can see parts of myself in her, being reflected back at me, or there is just immense potential in a broken soul to become whole. That potential is essentially what drives everything and everyone to always evolve and therefore change, which is really the only constant in our Universe.

🔸 Dark are the heavenly skies
~ Strasbourg Cathedral (2)

The striking beauty of Strasbourg Cathedral's interior reflects the stylistic development of Gothic architecture in France - the birthplace of Gothic art.

The construction of its gothic nave had begun in 1240 and it followed the earlier 11th century foundations, which resulted in a rather wide space of 36 meters (118 feet).

In its interior we find piers with a continuos shaft, elegantly decorated zone of the triforium behind which stained glass windows extend to the ceiling.

A sandstone fortress between worlds
~ Strasbourg Cathedral 🔸(1)

Looming high over the city of Strasbourg, there lies the Gothic Cathedral. From the 13th to the 15th century, the architects worked on transforming the previous Romanesque church into a Gothic one.

Erwin von Steinbach, a man who is as close to the archetype of the medieval architect as one can be, designed its fascinating west facade. An intricate tracery web covers the solid facade wall, which creates a strong vertical emphasis. The central rose window reflects the then new trend in Gothic style called Rayonnant, named after the radiating forms of rose windows, one that leaned toward constructing larger windows and finer decoration in order to bring more light into the interior of sacred spaces.

This is the first "real" Gothic Cathedral I have come in eye-to-eye contact with. Believe me when I say that there is NOTHING that compares to the sublime feeling of standing in front of an actual medieval Gothic Cathedral. The way it uncovers itself before you when you finally find it amidst the modern buildings, only after getting lost in the tiny streets. It's alien, it looks and feels as if it had just manifested from another world.
