Last bit of throw before Season 2
-
“Throwaway” is a flexible term which describes something created, used, said, or presented with the expectation that it has little long-term value, meaning it is intended to be discarded after serving a short-term purpose. In skateboarding, it reflects the idea that not every make is valuable in a filming sense, and that skaters often hold themselves to a much higher standard than what most viewers consider “good enough”. A throwaway clip is less about failure and more about selective curation, where the skater consciously chooses to discard something because it doesn’t represent their best.

I heard we’re not getting keyframes in December?
-
Keyframes in skateboarding games are timeline markers that store exact values for camera position, camera rotation, field of view, zoom, or any other adjustable parameter at a specific point in time. The game or editor then interpolates between these saved points, creating smooth motion without the user manually moving the camera every frame. This system is what allows replay editors to generate controlled pans, dollies, tilts, or tracked follow shots that look intentional instead of random or jerky.

In practical use, keyframes give full control over how a trick is presented. You can lock the camera on the skater during the approach, shift to a low fisheye angle mid-trick, and then pull back to a wide, floating shot on the landing—all by setting multiple keyframes and letting the editor blend between them. Without keyframes, the camera remains static or requires real-time manual movement, which prevents complex cinematic shots and limits how polished a clip can look.

Replay editor without keyframes is like releasing a skate game and forgetting the S.K.A.T.E. part

Little drawing in fairlight. Fairlight is the dedicated audio-post engine built into DaVinci Resolve, designed for full-scale sound editing, mixing, and mastering inside a single timeline. It replaces traditional NLE audio tools with a full digital audio workstation environment. It includes real-time EQ, dynamics, ADR tools, sample-accurate editing, multi-track recording, loudness metering, immersive formats up to Dolby Atmos, automatic dialogue cleanup modules, and a full effects library. The system runs on a hybrid engine that combines GPU-assisted processing with Resolve’s audio core, which allows extremely low latency even in large sessions.

The Fairlight page uses a console-style layout: a track list, full mixer with inserts, buses, VCA groups, automation lanes, and a full patching window for routing hardware inputs and outputs. Its built-in sound library browser, inspector-based clip controls, and elastic audio let you perform most professional tasks without external plug-ins. For users doing film work, Fairlight integrates tightly with Resolve’s picture timeline, so audio changes remain locked to the frame with no reconforming steps.

The tip of a spray paint can is called a cap or nozzle, and it controls how the paint is released. Different types of caps create different spray patterns, line widths, and paint flow rates. Stock caps come standard with most cans and produce a medium-width, even spray. Fat caps release more paint and are used for filling large areas or creating bold, wide lines. Skinny caps spray less paint and are ideal for fine details, outlines, and cleaner edges. There are also soft caps, which produce a low-pressure, misty spray for smooth fades and blends, and calligraphy caps, which have a rectangular opening that sprays a thin vertical or horizontal line depending on how it’s rotated. Graffiti artists and painters often swap caps between brands to customize control and texture.

Fisheye progress. Getting the warping right took forever man.
-
A fisheye lens is an ultra-wide-angle lens designed to capture an extremely broad field of view — often 180 degrees or more. Unlike standard wide lenses, which attempt to maintain straight lines and natural perspective, a fisheye embraces distortion. Straight edges curve outward toward the edges of the frame, producing the circular, “bubble” effect that defines its look. A fisheye lens allows the filmer to get extremely close to the skater — sometimes within inches of the board — while still showing the full trick, the obstacle, and the landing space. That closeness creates a sense of impact and immersion you can’t get from long lenses.
