The future of our movement will not be built by one voice—it will be built by many.

Every voice brings a different perspective, but every message points in the same direction: our future.

Through advocacy, poetry, music, and culture, our speakers will challenge us not only to remember who we are, but to become the generation that carries our movement forward.

Honoring our martyrs means more than looking back—it means building the future they believed in so deeply that they gave their lives defending it.

Join us this August 7th as we give Momentum to Movement.

Meet Our Keynote Speaker: Karmella Borashan

Movements are built by those who remember, those who create, and those who advocate.

For years, Karmella Borashan has worked to ensure our story is heard beyond our own communities—bringing our history, our struggles, and our aspirations into spaces where decisions are made.

Advocacy is how a people turns their pain into purpose, their concerns into action, and their vision into change.

This August 7th, Karmella Borashan will remind us that our future will not be given to us—it must be organized, advocated for, and built.

Meet Our Music & Cultural Advocate: Brynner Agassi

A movement without music and culture is just a campaign.

These are not accessories to our identity—they are the reason it has endured. They carry our history, preserve our memories, celebrate our resilience, and inspire us to build the future our ancestors sacrificed their lives trying to secure.

This August 7th, Brynner Agassi will challenge us to see culture not as something we passively share or consume, but as something we learn from, create, protect, and pass on.

Meet Our Poetry Reader: Atorina Aghakhan

Our history is written in books. Our resilience is written in poetry.

Across generations, poetry has carried the voices of our people through displacement, persecution, and survival, preserving not only who we were, but who we continue to be.

This August 7th, Atorina Aghakhan will share a reading that reminds us poetry does not simply preserve our past—it gives us the courage to write what comes next.

Introducing Your Evening Host: Ashuriena Abraham

A movement does not survive because people look backward. It survives because people are bold enough to move forward.

We carry the names. We carry the history. We carry the responsibility.

The foundation was built before us. The future will be built by us.

This August 7th, we inject our movement with momentum — because remembering where we came from means nothing if we refuse to decide where we are going.

Part 2.

Shoutout to Kindred Cycles @kindredcycles in Pittsburgh. The real ones. The homies in Pittsburgh. They got my rear light fixed and everything straightened out in 20 minutes as a walk-in. Ultimate bike service. They Rick Rolled me, but it’s chill. They’re awesome.

I broke my tent pole outside of DC, and Milan @whatthefixie at Bicycle Space @bicyclespace in DC helped me fix my tent pole and made it look really simple and easy. Never go to REI for help with their own products, go to your local bike shop.

Darrin @bigdatagovan and Nicole @luckyduk thank you guys. You’re the best thing about Maryland. Darrin helped me find my way to Delaware and his wife made a very generous donation. They made me cry so hard just from their kindness.

And shoutout to Autumn at Nick’s Fish House @nicksfishhouse in South Harbor, Baltimore. She helped pick up the pieces when I totally fell apart after Darrin and Nicole’s kindness. Her hospitality was incredible.

Thank you to everyone supporting Assyrian Aid Society @assyrianaidamerica Your support is so selfless and goes to such a great cause.

And this goes without saying, I want to thank my family.

My parents @khourianthony and @khourijackie don’t totally understand why I want to do this, but they never said not to.

Romina @rkhouri I know she can be a helicopter sister because she cares about me. She’s my number 1 cheerleader.

And Danny, my little brother. Not only did he make my stickers, his competitiveness drives me to be better. He has a healthy awareness of how good competition is and isn’t a sore loser either. If he wasn’t such a good athlete, I wouldn’t be interested in doing anything athletic.

Also, thank you to my Uncle George @pjphotography for supporting me and sharing photos of Nana.

If I missed anyone, thank you. I couldn’t have gotten here without you.

That’s it. New York, we made it. Stay tuned because I got a lot of footage to share. 🚴🏼

Part 1. I couldn’t have done this without the help of so many people:

A big shoutout to @comradecycles When I walked into your shop 6 years ago, I didn’t know anything. If my mechanics aren’t named Mike, Scott, or Steve, (or anyone that doesn’t work for someone with those names) I’m not sure I could trust ‘em.

Thanks to Anne Barnes @abbikefit After my first long bike ride, I thought it was over for me. She reassured me that my knee would heal, properly fitted me, and found me the right gear for my anatomy. The knowledge she gave me was priceless.

Thank you to Assyrian Aid Society @assyrianaidamerica for all the work they do and for working with me on this fundraiser. And thank you to my cousin, @ashuriena for helping make it happen. Ash has posted every story, reel and answered every dm. Love you, cuz.

Thank you to Joe Snell @joesnellreports for the article on @theassyrianjournal and sharing my story. And thank you to @aaaofsc for encouraging people to follow along.

Shoutout to Jerry @beardnfamily he’s just a great human. Thank you for helping me fill my water and find a campsite to sleep at safely. It was awesome to meet a likeminded person in SE Ohio.

Thank you to Aaron @surlyoldman for reassuring me that my handlebars weren’t bent after I fell in Westerville, Ohio. (The slowest, most lamest, fall ever.) He got me back on the road and I don’t think I would’ve made it to Cleveland otherwise. Also, who’s open on a Sunday? Aaron is.

Shoutout to @joymachines in Cleveland, Ohio. Alex, Forrest, and the rest of the gang. Somehow they had all the right things to put my bike together (low key the most specific things). Cleveland was a highlight of my trip and it’s 100% due to Joy Machines and the community they built. Cleveland rocks!

Thank you to Erik @truemarmalade I met him when he just stumbled into my bar and we kept in touch. If it wasn’t for Erik, I wouldn’t have met Joy Machines, so I wouldn’t have found the right parts, and I wouldn’t have made it to New York. He made me realize how sustainable it is to be on a bike and how to live on it. He puts up big numbers and makes it look easy. Cheers to you!

Day 17. 🚴🏼

Taking an extra day in Philly before one last epic ride to New York City.

This tour has been so rad. I’ve met some amazing people, and really been surprised by so many cool places.

Thank you to everyone supporting @assyrianaidamerica and following along on this ride.

If there are any Assyrians in NYC, let’s kick it while I’m there, fam.

Enjoying Philly before I see you, NYC. 🚴🏼
