One year ago, I was moving to Portugal for the best semester of my life. I remember crying the whole flight (yes, very stupid of me, but iykyk), landing around midnight, every Uber canceling my ride, and having absolutely no clue how to get to my new house. And yet, in the end, I was reborn in a city that healed me.

Now that 365 days have passed and I’m back home, I don’t quite know how I feel.
I have a complicated relationship with time. I feel it rushing forward, unstoppable, and instead of simply accepting it, I panic. The passing of time often makes me feel stuck, as if I’m standing still while everything else moves ahead.

But I am deeply grateful for what that time gave me.

So if you’re still thinking about it, if you’re doubting, if you’re scared, GO. Leave. Start. Because there is nothing more true than this: you can’t heal in the same environment that made you sick. taken in Lisboa, Portugal by @asia.monda
