Over the last year, AAU has been supporting many Asian American families affected by ICE. The kidnappings by ICE are impacting families physically, emotionally and financially. We don't know how long these current conditions will last, but we know that the only way through this is collective liberation-– that's why we're announcing the newly created Communities in Solidarity Fund. 🐎🔥

Due to the major increase in impacted families, we need to build more sustainable paths to provide immigration support. Your donations to this fund will be a critical lifesaver!

Thank you for standing with our immigrant communities. Together, we support families as they fight to stay safe and stay together. by @asianamericansunited

Since the No Arena fight, we've known that the billionaires still have their eyes and hands on Market East. HBSE and now Comcast bought up several blocks, and now they hold even MORE property to try and make a move. Right now, there's a temporary "Market East Engagement Hub" at 930 Market Street where you can make your voice heard about the future of this neighborhood. It's a limited chance but an opportunity to push back against the mayor's and billionaires' attempts to take over again.

Remember testifying against the arena at City Hall or the convention center? This hub is similar but you get a lot more time to speak! Right now it's only open for 6 more days this month (although everyone is hoping for an extension), so don't delay and go today!

There's also a survey if you wanna do double duty to weigh in! ➡️ ➡️ www.marketeastrevival.com by @asianamericansunited

Since 2025, due to Trump's attacks on asylum and his policies mandating ICE detention, AAU has seen a major increase in people seeking our help with immigration. We have been supporting immigrants kidnapped by ICE, as well as assisting with their loved ones' needs. ICE is part of an intentionally cruel immigration system that makes money off of trapping and caging people.

ICE has taken tens of thousands of people away from their homes and families. Many of them have been taken secretly, at their legally required immigration check-ins, on their way to work, and even at the airport. These are the patterns that AAU has observed over the past 18 months. These patterns may change due to the Trump administration's volatile policies, but ultimately it all leads to more and more takeovers by ICE.

The lives and stories of people taken by ICE are kept in the shadows. They are often detained in terrible living conditions for months and even years. All of this cruelty is done just to make a profit for the wealthy and the prisons they run, to the tune of billions of dollars. Even one person taken is one too many, and AAU has supported over 100 people taken by ICE.

What can we do? Sign up to volunteer (link in bio), donate to our Communities in Solidarity Fund, share Know Your Rights resources, and keep showing up to fight back! by @asianamericansunited

“No están solos, no están solas, juntes hacemos la liberación” 🕯️🕯️🕯️

This Tuesday, we gathered outside City Hall in memory of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, Joan Sebastian Guerrero Duran, and everyone who has been killed by this inhumane system. As a community, we came together to honor their lives, say their names, and stand with their families and one another.

We built a beautiful altar honoring their lives. People were able to pray, light candles, place flowers, or leave other ofrendas at the altar.

(español abajo) In the past week, we have watched as ICE’s violence and brutality have stolen the lives of precious community members. Last night, we gathered in grief and rage to honor those we have lost, share in our mourning, and recommit to fighting until all of our community members are free from cages and free from fear.

⚠️ ICE at PHL Airport!

ICE has taken at least 4 women in the last 3 days at the Philadelphia International Airport. Please exercise caution, regardless of your immigration status.

One of the women detained by ICE is an elderly grandmother who was boarding her flight. She is currently seeking asylum and still awaiting her first court hearing. ICE kidnapping her shows that “following the rules” isn’t a guarantee of safety; we must resist ICE. Regardless of immigration status, people deserve dignity and humanity!

✈️ If you or a loved one is flying out of PHL and is concerned, exercise caution. Be aware of your rights, make a preparedness plan, and contact a trustworthy lawyer in advance.

If you have questions, email immigration@aaunited.org. For emergencies, call or text AAU’s hotline at (445) 310-4081 or Juntos’ hotline at 814-205-3293. 📞 by @asianamericansunited

Joan Sebastian Guerrero was 26 years old. He was a beloved husband and father to his wife and daughter, and a provider for his family.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was 52 years old. He was a beloved husband and father of three. He was a small business owner. He was an immigrant who worked all of his life to provide for his family.

Join us Tuesday July 14th 7pm on the North side of city hall to mourn Joan, Lorenzo, and all of those murdered in the name of cruelty and hate. ICE must be abolished and held accountable. by @asianamericansunited
