Friend-date idea: volunteer together, then grab coffee. 🎃☕

Joined Youth To The People and Pearl Society to pack Halloween treat bags for A Place Called Home’s Halloween festival in DTLA. Happy I got to help with the prep and catch up with a friend and also meet new people. Major plus, Youth to the People have us some goodies as a reward for.

Then coffee with @chihengpun at Lulu’s Coffee. Because if we’re already out, we might as well get coffee. 😂

September started with BTS at SoFi, then immediately back to the baseball field. Like okay, I just had a very important emotional experience, but now I have to get back to reality?! Anyway, what time is practice? 💜

Baseball practices and games basically has become my life. ⚾️We also helped at a golf tournament with Boy Scouts, and Travis ranked up to Tenderfoot! Very proud of him, even if now thinks I’m mostly unc.. 🥹

I also did the Langham 5K,worked out at Key Method and went to community event hosted by Bala at Club Studio., Went to an events hosted by The Wellness Mom that I almost forgot about. Also joined a 40+ dance crew. Yes, a DANCE CREW. 💃🏻 Maybe because I needed to keep myself more busy.

Tried to finish The Vanishing Cherry Blossom Bookshop but failing (not the book’s fault just my attention span has been lacking). Picked up the cutest must-have in LA: the Hello Kitty LA County library card. Yes, I’m this excited about a library card. Please be excited with me. 📚🎀

Went to Kyochon with my brother for Korean fried chicken + beer in the middle of the day during the LA heatwave. Don’t judge. 🍗🍻 Got a little sentimental because we used to go there with our mom. Something about sitting there together brought back all those meals with her. 🤍

Stopped at Da Vien, Tanner’s, and HEYTEA because I like my errands with a beverage destination. Tried Café 86’s halo-halo at the Forgotten Island advance screening and have been thinking about it ever since. 🍧

Braved the opening weekend at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.

Oh, and I got back into Pokémon card hunting. Looked at my existing hobbies and thought, “You know what’s missing? Another one.” 😂

Anyway, this is why I need photo dumps. I’ll ask, “What did I even do this month?” and my camera roll reminds me that I did mother than binge on another Asian drama📸

Saturday baseball with the Gusto Purple 12U: two games, eight hours at the field, and enough heat to make it feel like overtime. ⚾️☀️

The results weren’t what we hoped for, but the boys had a great time playing together. That’s baseball. We (players and parents) show up, keep learning, and come back ready for the next one. 💜

On to the next game, preferably with a little more shade.

I open my camera roll looking for a photo, and of course I have to go through 16,282 videos of Travis batting from basically slightly different angles. 😂

At this point, my phone is just a baseball highlight archive with a few screenshots and dog photos mixed in.

DreamWorks invited me to an advance screening of Forgotten Island, and you know I wasn’t going to miss a movie set in the Philippines, with Filipino characters and a mostly Filipino voice cast. As a Filipino immigrant, seeing bits and pieces of my culture (and Filipino mythology )in a DreamWorks animated movie felt so special. 🇵🇭✨

After the screening, we got to meet Liza Soberano, the voice of Raissa! DreamWorks also treated us to Jollibee, lumpia, turon, and sweet treats from Café 86 (I’m still thinking about their ube halo-halo!). There was a candy bar by Little Sweet Treats and a friendship bracelet bar where we could pick our own charms.

What stayed with me with the movie were the glimpses of Filipino life: our love of food and music, and the way family and friendship are at the heart of everything. The whole evening felt like a little piece of home. 💛

Forgotten Island opens Friday, September 25! Thank you, @dreamworks , for having me. And such a treat meeting @lizasoberano and enjoying @jollibeeus and @cafe_86

Nothing brings the community together quite like a Hello Kitty library card. 🎀📚😂

I thought going right when the library opened was a brilliant idea…apparently, so did everyone else. Even the quieter location I chose had a completely full parking lot!

If you’re replacing your card, bring your ID. You’ll receive a new library card number, but your PIN stays the same. You also get to choose a bookmark!

Each library received about 400 cards, but I was told there should be a restock next month, so don’t panic if your location runs out.

Don’t skip the scavenger hunt either! Find all eight Hello Kitty characters to earn one of six collectible stickers. Obviously, now I need them all. 😅

Here’s a batting highlight you didn’t ask for (and probably don’t care about 😂) from this weekend’s travel baseball tournament.

But what else am I supposed to do with the 16,838,462,624 videos of Travis batting on my phone?! I could delete them but…🤣🤣🤣
