Forever entranced by the colours and textures of the reefs in Indonesia. Especially these hard cup corals - which I like to call sunshine corals ☀️

When they're closed they're just dark pink closed belly button like structures but when they're open (like in this image) you can see them in their full glory.

If you dive with me, be prepared to be shown a lot of open cup corals and soft corals.

Beautiful capture of me with my favourite corals by the very talented @dianapaboojianphotography

Nature gives us so much yet asks for absolutely nothing in return. Not even our presence.

When we take the time to come into connection, when we offer ourselves in gratitude and reverence, when we sit long enough to truly listen, we receive such powerful medicene.

Nature is always talking to us. We just need to take the time to listen.

All too often I forget. A reminder to myself to come back to the land, to the elements, to what is already here.

So much wisdom shared and blessings recieved during this Women's Nature Quest with @annamariamagdalenah & @kirstyka.earthmedicine

These past two months have felt like an excavation into the depths of my being.

Threads unravelled, parts dislodged, protectors stepping aside and my heart blown wide open.

Through movement, through stillness and through prayer. Held so tenderly by others and by the land.

Finally seeing that frightened little girl inside of me, holding her, and meeting the strong, courageous, resilient woman that I have become.

Knowing in my bones that I am safe, I am not alone, that life wants me.

Tasting what is beyond my stories, my beliefs, my limited perceptions.

Finding the love and the embrace that I've been longing for, that I've been so desperately searching for, was here, within me, and around me all along.

That a love so powerful, so strong, so all encompassing exists brought me to my knees.

In deep, deep reverence and gratitude for all of it.

It was always here. It is always here.

So now what?

I don't need to know. I don't want to know.

All I know is that I have felt and experienced things that I didn't even know were possible.

So what else is possible?

The most frequent compliment I recieve from my guests is that they love my enthusiasm. Both above and below the water.

I've never been good at faking it. I don't have a poker face. I'm an open book. Something I often thought was a bad thing in the hospitality industry.

Yet it's my genuine enthusiasm that guests continually mention as something that really made their trip special.

Yesterday when sharing this compliment with me a guest taught me the origins of the word enthusiasm...

Enthusiasm originates from the ancient Greek word Enthousiasmos which literally means 'God within' or 'having the god inside'. Derived from 'en' (a prefix meaning in or within) and 'theos' (Greek work for God).

The original meaning of the word was to be possessed or inspired by God, suggesting divine madness or sacred flame igniting one's inner spirit.

When I heard the etymology of this word I realised how meaningful this compliment I've been receiving is.

Being enthusiastic is not just about excitement or interest, but a state of being connected to the divine within and sharing that energy and inspiration with the world.

True enthusiasm is the evidence of a sacred flame within. An energy that guides, connects and inspires us all.

We build walls, we write stories, we take on beliefs and develop ways of being that prevent us from accessing and seeing this sacred flame.

But no matter how many layers you collect, that flame never dies. It's always there.

Those small sparks of enthusiasm, those tiny glimmers of gratitude, those minut moments of shared joy are evidence of the divine within.

As I shared with my previous post...

The cracks are not how the light enters us but how we share our light with the world.

Often I feel that cruise directing is not for me anymore, but when my guests share this compliment with me I am reminded of what I have to share. What we all have to share.

Forever grateful for the people I meet onboard and the wisdom I continue to recieve from my guests 🙏

There's something about the liminal spaces created by air travel that invites reflection and often stirs what lies beneath.

Komodo National Park was one of the three places during my long backpacking trip that made me fall in love with Indonesia. The raw and rugged landscapes contrasted with the vibrant and pulsating underwater world has always left me in awe. For me it creates this feeling of being on the very edge of the earth.

This morning I am heading back to Komodo after a long break from work. From the outside, my life is exactly the same as when I stepped off the boat. Yet I feel as though everything has changed.

Normally I would travel, explore, or study. Trying to make the most of my time off and this precious life I have been given. Chasing those peak experiences that make me feel connected.

This year my body and soul has been asking for something different.A craving for home and community, a different kind of connection.

A bad ankle sprain on my first day off ensured that I had no option but to slow down. To do things differently. To let things settle.

In gifting myself space, slowness and stillness I experienced a glimmer of the sacred within the 'ordinary'. And I felt the first real spark of compassion and kindness for myself. Something that I had been trying to ignite for over a decade.

This time has been full of blessings and beings that I am deeply grateful for.

Thank you for gifting me the home that I so deeply I needed, the friendships that I was craving, and the connection that I longed for.

Ps. Yes this really is Padar island in Komodo without other people. This is not an edited photo or a trick of angles. This is what can happen if you travel off season with a bespoke liveaboard that purposefully curates the best possible experiences - @divedamai

Despite having countless beautiful photographs and experiences over the past years, I've been reluctant to share any of it.

While I've experienced immense joy and gratitude, I've also felt such deep pain and darkness. Where the beauty of the places around me and the incredible experiences I'm deeply grateful for, contrasted so sharply with the heaviness inside of me that it felt wrong to share them.

I feel that only when I am in an expanded state that I have something to offer. That when I am contracted I am not worthy of being seen or heard.

So I don't share, feeling that I have nothing worth sharing.

But I can see that in not sharing I am further rejecting myself. Rejecting the parts of this human experience that I deem unworthy or undesirable.

And in doing so, I only perpetuate the shame I feel for not being in an expansive state. I reenforce the belief that my contracted state is not worthy or whole.

But I am beginning to learn that is not true.

Even if I can't see or believe it, my contracted state is just as whole and worthy as my expansive state. It is just as divine and exquisite in its darkness.

For so long I've been ashamed of this side of me. I've pushed it away, not wanting it to be here and not wanting to be seen in it.

I am working on embracing all parts of myself, all parts of life. That includes the messy, the guilty, the anxious and the not perfectly polished. The expansive AND the contracted.

So I plan to share more.

Trusting that, even though I feel like I have nothing worth sharing, that I do have something to offer.

Thank you to all my teachers and all those in my life who have helped me start to see this truth.

It's been over 4 years since I have had what is typically refered to as a home. Not even a short term rental.

After guesthouse hopping, multiple house and cat sittings, followed by working full time on boats, I have not had a specific home.

And I still don't.

Yet I feel more at home than I ever have.

What I've come to realise during these years is that home isn't one physical building or a specific space.

It's all those places that make me feel safe. Where I feel my body instantly relax and start to put down what it's been carrying. Not only the old and familiar places, but also in new places I've never been before.

It's all those people that welcome me. Where I feel loved and accepted no matter how long we've known each other, or how long it's been since we saw each other last. Both the dearest old friends and those brief encounters with 'strangers'.

It's this feeling inside myself. Created by the love and gratitude I have for this feeling of home in so many corners of the world.

Even when I feel like everything is falling apart, I can still feel this feeling of home. Often it's just a tiny glimmer. But it's there.

Thank you for always welcoming me home.

P.S. Sadly I don't have photos of all the people or all the places that create this feeling of home, but I hope you know that even if you're not in those photos you are definitely one of them. Thank you.

At the end of November the Indo Siren burned down. Everyone was safe and unharmed but we all suffered a great loss.

I share this post not for sympathy, but because I want to say thank you.

Thank you for the opportunity, for the challenges, for the adventures, and most of all for the love.

For me, the best thing about scuba diving has always been the people you get to meet. Over the past year and a half onboard Indo Siren I have met the most beautiful people.

Being a Cruise Director is not easy, it brings out the best and the worst in me. But to all those I have met on this journey, I want to say thank you.

To all of the crew I have worked alongside, thank you for all the things you have taught me. Thank you for your patience, your understanding and your trust. Thank you for never giving up on me even when I was giving up on myself.

To all my guests, thank you for your kindness and your support. Thank you for the laughs and all those magical moments underwater and above the surface. Thank you for all the wisdom you have shared, and continue to share with me.

You have all given me experiences of a lifetime and helped me become a better version of myself. For that, I am eternally grateful.

Indo Siren was so much more than a boat or a job. It was a home and a family, created by our guests and our crew. I feel honoured and proud to have been a part of that.

My heart is still breaking over our loss, a peice of it will always be with that boat. But I am beyond grateful for this experience and for all those that shared it with me.

For a time I felt like my whole world was falling apart. And whilst I still feel a deep sadness, there is also immense gratitude and love.

Now I am beginning to understand that this was only a part of my journey through life.

An important part. But just a part.

Terima kasih banyak kalian semua.

Worth the climb, swim and scramble to have these waterfalls to ourselves.

What an honour it was to explore a new island with these two inspiring women. Thank you @cecilia__c
and @inga.olen for making this such a special trip.

Slowly ticking off the 17,000+ islands this incredibly diverse country has to offer 🇮🇩
