On a day where we remember a man who gave his life fighting for equality and justice, I always love to share casual pictures of him that illustrate his simple humanity in everyday life. MLK was a larger than life speaker, civil rights icon, and historical figure, but at the end of the day he was also just a man living a life that was cut short. Always be grateful to him for the sacrifices he made to make the world better.

R.I.P. Kirby Morrow. Thank you for providing some of the most prominent voices of my childhood and adolescence. Kirby was a voice actor, most notably associated with the Ocean Group. The recording studio which dubbed many of the first animes to hit North America in the mid/late 90's. Some of Kirby'sost notable roles are: Trowa Barton from Gundam Wing, Miroku from InuYasha, Dr. Tofu from Ranma 1/2, Rey Za Burel from Gundam SEED Destiny, Teru Mikami from Death Note, Cyclops from X-Men Evolution, and for a time Kirby even provided the voice for Goku in the Canadian dub of Dragon Ball Z. Thanks again Mr.. Morrow,, I'll always appreciate the life and personality you poured into your characters.

I would love a new TMNT show or anime with this artstyle and vibe. The art is by Dustin Weaver.

My favorite scripture to visit whenever I feel stressed or overwhelmed. Its a short verse,, but serves as a simple reminder to never let things get to you because God is in your corner. Seems very appropriate in these times.

I was very far apart from Herman Cain in political views, yet I still mourn his loss because it was so preventable. This Coronavirus is not a political hoax designed to harm Trump, or control the masses that some political talking heads would want you to believe. The virus is very real, and not taking it seriously can have real consequences. Cain was one of the individuals who chose not to take the virus seriously. Cain proudly advocated not wearing a mask in public, he attended a large indoor rally without a mask to further that cause, and he paid the ultimate price for it. I write all this not to "dunk" on the demise of Cain, but to plea to anyone who shared his views to change your thinking.
The virus is not political, it does not discriminate. The virus doesn't care whether you believe in it or not, the virus doesn't care how much you want to go out and enjoy life as usual. If you don't respect the threat of the virus, and take proper steps to defend against it, just like Herman Cain you too could contract the virus and fall victim to it. The good news, while there is currently no cure for the virus, there is still a path to defeating it. Wearing mask and keeping social distance to stop or slow the spread of pathogens, can dry out the virus. New Zealand is the biggest example of this feat. It takes discipline, it requires a willingness to look beyond your self interest, it takes a willingness to trust science and medicine, but the virus can be defeated. If you are truly saddened by the death of Herman Cain, please learn from it, so this sad type of story isn't repeated.

R.I.P. John Lewis. Thank you for dedicating your life to fighting for equality and justice for all. I'll never forget your lesson of the need"to get in good trouble, necessary trouble."

C'mon everybody let's all do what we can to fight this virus. The brave doctors and nurses are on the front lines, but we can all do our part. Stay home, except for essential activies(grocery trips, medical visits), and wash those hands frequently. The more we follow these guidelines, the sooner we can resume normal life.

People every other Weekend:
"I just want to stay in and relax"
Doctors and Health Experts: "We need you to just stay in so we can slow the spread of this virus and have adequate resources to treat people."
People this Weekend:
"You can't tell me what to do, I'll go out and party all I want."

Finishing off Black History Month with arguably one of the biggest pieces of Black History in my lifetime, President Barack Obama. Of mixed race and cultures (a black father from Kenya and a white mother from Kansas), Barack Obama struggled during his early years with finding his identity and place in society. He would go on to find his niche in public service. Starting out as a community organizer in the South side of Chicago, Obama eventually ran for office and won, becoming the fifth African American U.S. senator ever to be elected. Obama would go on to make more history, on November 4, 2008, Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States of America, becoming the first African American to do so.

Today in Black History Month I want to highlight James Baldwin, a novelist and essayist of considerable renown. Most of Baldwin's work focused on the negative impact racism had on American society. Baldwin explored the psychological implications of racism for both the oppressed and the oppressor. One of my favorite quotes by him is "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced."

Today for Black History month I want to highlight Dwayne McDuffie. McDuffie was a trailblazing writer of comic books and television programs. McDuffie is most known for co-creating Static Shock and the Milestone Comics Universe. McDuffie was also a writer and producer on several critically acclaimed tv shows of the 2000's including: Static Shock, Justice League, Justice League: Unlimited, Teen Titans, and Ben 10: Alien Force. Dwayne McDuffie passed away in 2011. Rest in peace, and thank you for the memories. #blackhistorymonth #blackhistory #staticshock #justiceleague #teentitans #ben10 #comics by @ask_steeves
