As everyone and their mum knows, shutting everything down has taken a massive toll on our live music scene.

We’re talking the pubs and bars that used to be public toilets. The ones run on razor thin margins by always-tired-yet-tireless landlords, landladies, kings and queens. The ones where you’ll always find an awesome support band, a new mate, or a beer you’ve never tried before.

It’s with this in mind we’re putting this out there. We love live music, we love being with our mates and we love how all these venues allow us to keep doing this. Without them, our favourite bands don’t get to play. We’re joining our peers, friends and fans all over the country in calling on the government to #LetTheMusicPlay.

These last few months have wrought havoc on pretty much everything. But while shortsighted bean counters are rushing to open everything back up, the live music scene is slowly dying a quiet death. The government dithers with empty platitudes and a vague “five point plan” to “raise the curtain” on our livelihoods.

Meanwhile, venues sit dormant, the rent piling up, unabated. Artists, agents, tour crew, promoters, lighting technicians, stage hands, and sound engineers - like the incredibly skilled Luke Dowson - cannot work. Without them, none of us can do what we do for all of you.

We want live music back, but we don’t want to rush it back prematurely. We can’t book, play, or attend gigs when it’s not safe. The venues, festivals, and bands you know and love can’t survive without help. Please join us in sharing pictures, videos, anything from your favourite live shows and festivals, and let’s make our voices heard.

#LetTheMusicPlay

The lovely folks at @bandcamp have decided to waive all fees from music and merch sales for today only so fledgling independent bands like us can stay afloat while not on the road. If you were considering getting yourself a shiny new t-shirt, beanie, or a digital copy of any of our singles, now is the time! Check the link in our bio or head here 👉🏽 http://bit.ly/askari-bandcamp and for the sake of everyone, wash your hands and remain indoors (if you can)! Let’s beat this thing together. Stay safe. ❤️ #merch #music #merchsales #bandmerch #bandtshirts #bandbeanies #newgarms #newmerch #nofees #bandcampareGs #covid19 #allthesehashtagsrhyme #okmaybenotall #selfisolation taken in Bandcamp by @askariband

Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances in the news and that, the show in Aberdeen on 27th March has been cancelled due to @krakatoa_bar closing for a few weeks to take preventative measures.

We don’t like it, but there’s not a great deal we can do right now. We'll go all out to get back up there this year, so watch this space.
Refunds will be granted at point of purchase. Thanks for understanding.

It’s confession time! Have you or someone you know told someone they know about our music? Mates, music lovers, promoters, journalists... whoever it is, let us know so we can personally thank you (via DM). We’re playing the long game doing all this stuff independently, but it’s people like you lot that make it all possible. Share, then share that you shared so we can share the love! ❤️

Using a tiny spoon to eat half a box of cereal from the biggest bowl in the kitchen is one of the many top tips Aiden has for being the best at drums: “I opt for casserole size portions of cereal to fuel my performance on tour, and of course I eat them with the world's smallest spoon to make them last longer. Optimal performance.” There you have it.

One massive benefit of recording and practising @rhmgltd in Blackpool is the sand dunes are a stone’s throw away. So, when we’re not touring, we’re chasing Honey around on the beach in the most wholesome way imaginable. 🐕 🏖 🌊
