Juneteenth hits different standing here.

The Obama Presidential Center rising over this reflection pond felt like history was looking back at me, not the other way around.

Freedom delayed. Progress fought for, inch by inch, by people who never got to see what their sacrifices would build.

That's what today is for. Not just rest. Not just recognition.

It's about remembering the people who survived, resisted, and dared to dream anyway, so the rest of us could inherit the space to imagine something bigger.

I kept staring at that reflection. The water doesn't just mirror the building. It makes you look twice.

It made me think about what it means to look back honestly, rather than comfortably, and to build something worthy of what it cost to get here.

Happy Juneteenth.
