The message was simple—Glaucoma! The silent thief of sight can cause irreversible blindness if left undetected. The key? Regular eye check-ups. No symptoms in the early stages means many people don’t realize they have it until it’s too late.

Grateful for the opportunity to raise awareness on @tvcnewsng, emphasizing the importance of early detection, treatment, and routine eye exams. Let’s prioritize our eye health and spread the word!

I’m still taking this in 🥹

I am deeply honored and grateful to the Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA), FCT Chapter for selecting me as the Emerging Optometric Leader of the Year, 2025.

Receiving this notification truly humbled me. To be recognized for my dedication to clinical excellence, eye health advocacy, and commitment to advancing optometry means more than words can express. This profession is not just my career it is my calling.

Every patient interaction, every late night, every educational post, every advocacy effort has been driven by one simple desire: to serve with excellence and purpose.

I am especially thankful to the NOA FCT Executives and the Selection Panel for seeing value in my work and for believing that it has made a measurable impact on patient care and professional development. To be described as someone inspiring a new generation of practitioners is an honor I do not take lightly.

Thank you to my mentors, colleagues, seniors, and peers across the FCT, Nigeria, and the diaspora your guidance, encouragement, and accountability have shaped my journey more than you know. To my patients, thank you for trusting me with your sight; you are the reason I strive to be better every day.

Above all, I give glory to God, my family, and friends. This is His grace, His timing, and His hand at work in my life. I am reminded that leadership is service, and recognition is responsibility.

Thank you once again for this incredible honor. I remain committed to serving, leading, and advancing eye care with integrity and excellence.

Two weeks ago, I chose to celebrate my birthday in a way that truly mattered… ❤️✨

Instead of lights, music, and cake, we took the See Better with Dr. Ada initiative to the Piwoyi Community, Lugbe, a place where quality healthcare often feels out of reach.

I can still hear a colleague laughing and saying, “Ada, you should have told us this venue wasn’t accessible by car!” 😅 And yes, we had to trek part of the way, but every single step reminded me why this mission matters.

With the support of selfless volunteers, dedicated healthcare professionals, Rev. Fr. Victor, and the welcoming parishioners of St. Michael’s Church, we were able to provide:
🩺 Free health screenings (BP & sugar tests)
👁️ Vision checks & medical consultations
💊 Medications and health education
👓 Free reading glasses for those in need

Seeing the smiles of people experiencing clear vision again… the relief on the faces of those who finally got answers to their health concerns… it was worth every effort.

I am deeply grateful to everyone who made this possible. Together, we turned a birthday into a day of hope, healing, and brighter vision for so many lives. 🌟

Here’s to making the world clearer, one community at a time. 💛

Being an optometrist has taught me so much about people, and not all of it is about eyesight.

Working in eye care has reminded me that everyone who walks into a clinic has a story. Some people are worried about their vision. Others have questions they are afraid to ask. And some don’t even realise how much they have been struggling until they receive the right care.

I’ve learnt that being a good optometrist goes beyond conducting eye examinations, prescribing glasses, or identifying eye conditions. It also means listening, communicating clearly, showing compassion, and treating every patient with dignity.

Healthcare is about people, not just conditions.
These are some of the lessons my journey in optometry continues to teach me, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to learn, grow, and serve.

Fellow healthcare professionals, what has your profession taught you about people? I’d love to hear your thoughts 👇

Did you know an eye examination can reveal more than just how well you see?

Your eyes may provide important clues about your overall health, sometimes before you notice other symptoms.

From diabetes and high blood pressure to certain neurological conditions, an eye examination can help an optometrist identify signs that may need further medical investigation.

Swipe to discover some health conditions that may show signs during an eye examination. ➡️

This Monday, make your eye health a priority. Your eyes deserve more than a quick check when your vision becomes blurry!
📌 Save this post and share it with someone who needs to book an eye examination.

This World Sight Day, i’m encouraging you to pause and think about your eye health.

Good vision isn’t just about being able to see clearly. Your eyes can also give important clues about your overall health, and regular eye examinations can help detect certain eye conditions early, sometimes before you notice any symptoms.

This World Sight Day, let’s make a commitment to ourselves and the people we love:
👁️ Get your eyes checked regularly.
👁️ Pay attention to changes in your vision.
👁️ Protect your eyes at work, school and home.
👁️ Encourage your loved ones to prioritise their eye health.
👁️ And never underestimate the value of seeing clearly.
Because when you protect your sight, you’re protecting your ability to experience life.

Happy World Sight Day from your favorite eye doctor
See clearly. Live fully. Take care of your eyes.

Every day, patients review doctors, but today, I’m reviewing my patients. 😂

From the patient who says, “I followed everything you told me, Doctor” to the one who sends their family and friends my way I see you! 🥹

Your trust, your questions, your feedback, and even your little clinic stories make this work so rewarding.

Today, here is my review: Thank you for trusting me with your eyes and letting me be part of your eye health journey.

It’s World 🌎 Sight Week with the theme “Love Your Eyes”

New clothes are nice, but your eyes are the one thing you wear every single day.
So as you get ready for the week, don’t forget to take care of the eyes that help you experience it all.
Protect your vision.

Take screen breaks. Get enough rest. And don’t wait until your vision becomes blurry before you book an eye examination.
Your eyes deserve care too. 👁️

Happy Monday from your favourite eye doctor!
