Our local ASMP-MSP chapter believes the photo community is stronger together. We love every chance to come together, learn together, create together, and, most of all, support each other in thriving as creative professionals.

Last weekend we got lost in the giant photographer’s playground that was @modebyflickr, and we’re still buzzing. There were important conversations on AI, the business of photography, and women redefining photography (among others). We saw many familiar faces and made some new friends. It was clear that our community is not just surviving a moment of change — we’re shaping it.

That’s exactly why we do what we do. ASMP doesn’t just advocate on behalf of photographers — we show up to make sure photographers have a seat at the table as the industry evolves.

Huge thanks to the @modebyflickr team for creating a space where photographers can come together to learn, connect, and fall back in love with the craft—we had a blast! And we always enjoy any opportunity to have @asmpnational join us here in Minneapolis.

We are so excited for this one! Registration is OPEN for MSP Squared - October 23 & 24 at @studio_1414 in Minneapolis. Our local ASMP-MSP chapter is hard at work alongside the @asmpnational team to bring this hands-on, collaborative photo competition to our creative community.

All you need is 24 hours to create and a little curiosity.

Friday October 23: Seventy-five photographers will each be randomly assigned a square of the city and have 24 hours to make an image in their unique quadrant.

Saturday October 24: Live judging, three local judges, awesome prizes on the spot — including the Adobe Craft Awards for categories such as best use of light, composition, black & white, and in-camera motion. There will be food trucks, drink tickets and a full weekend of photography, community and creativity.

AI will write you a contract template in about nine seconds. It’ll draft a licensing clause. It’ll put together a bid — and honestly, it’ll do a decent job getting you started.

What it can’t do is sit across a table from the photographer who shot for that client last year and tell you what they actually got paid or share what type of marketing outreach is currently landing them new work!

That’s the whole reason we keep showing up. This industry is changing under us. We’re here to work out what that means — together, out loud, with people who are dealing with the same thing.
