POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Been a minute. About 2.5 years, or 888 days exactly since I last posted a non-IG story. Still on hiatus from the music but will def come back to it at some point. No question. But yeah, things have been well, work has been busy, life has been good, and all the moments and memories made outside of the daily grind have been absolutely precious 🙏 So here’s a bunch of highlights from these past 888 days with friends, family, pets, and cosplayers, as well as a mascot, and even a cardboard cutout… iykyk. Been a great chapter, here’s to the next ✨ by @asomniia

I wish I could tell you this photo is cover art for a new release of mine but alas, such is not reality for 2023 was yet another year in my indefinite hiatus from making music as my creative pursuits have been focused elsewhere… And yet, despite these past few years having been an introspective transitional period, looking forward to getting back into the ol’ groove and swing of things in 2024!✨ by @asomniia

2023 Spotify Wrapped listed Kx5 and John Summit as my Top Artists, with “Where You Are” as my Top Song. So I decided to edit a short video using footage from my DJ set livestream back in August, while incorporating the character ultimate animations from “Arknights: Endfield” and “Zenless Zone Zero.” As for the track, tbh I wasn’t fond of any of the mashups I’ve heard for “Escape” and “Where You Are,” so I mixed the two tracks together myself. Hope you enjoy it!✨ by @asomniia

My latest mix AFTER DUSK is out today and ready for audio consumption via SoundCloud [link in bio]. Although “Dusk” is the same set from my livestream last month, albeit approx 15 min shorter and with some minor edits, it’s also a bit different from my past mixes, with the exception of AFTER DAWN. Similar to “Dawn” which was basically a “Best Of” mix for AFTER DARK: VOL. I - VII, “Dusk” is a “Best Of” for AFTER DAWN, ALTERNATE DIMENSIONS, ANNIHILATION DAYS, and AWAKENED DREAMS, with various updates and edits of old mashups. Hope that all makes sense 😅 In any case, I hope you enjoy this latest DJ mix esp since it contains like 90% of my ALL-TIME FAVE original mashups and edits 🎧🙏❤️✨

P.S. Cover art photography for ALL my ASOMNiiA releases (both originals and mixes) were shot by myself. Mentioning this bc some ppl have asked me before where I find these pics 🤦‍♂️ yeah, they’re my own; not some random stock photo from the web 🤷‍♂️ The art for AFTER DUSK is a view of Osaka from Abeno Harukas, shot on iPhone 8 in May 2018 📸 by @asomniia

TYSM to everyone who had the chance to tune into my livestream last night esp bc unlike during the pandemic, I only do this sorta thing once every other blue moon. And fyi, since I had video recorded the set ahead of time, performing against a green screen as usual, it gave me the opportunity to sync the music to the visuals in post for a change. Ngl it was definitely a lotta work and despite methodically planning out everything, the editing process took significantly longer than expected. However, it was worth it, and I’m very happy the final product ended up being a culmination of things I’ve been very passionate about these past few years, i.e. video editing, making DJ mixes, and video games like Arknights, Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Cyberpunk 2077.

Sharing some of my favorite select moments from the set, that highlight how the audio matched the visuals, along with the opening scene and ending credits.

As for the DJ mix itself, even tho “After Dusk” combines my most fave original mashups from my past four mixes (After Dawn, Alternate Dimensions, Annihilation Days, Awakened Dreams), while still adding some new elements to the old, you can expect “Dusk” to drop on SoundCloud (along with some video companion on YouTube) in the coming weeks! taken in Los Angeles, California by @asomniia

Presenting the final teaser video for my new mix “Awakened Dreams” out tomorrow on SoundCloud. Unlike the previous teaser vids which had new mashups, this one features my edit for “Biding Time” by Amy Wiles, along with credits to all the artists in the mix. And fwiw, the visuals used here are from my music video “Early Glooms” but sped up to eleven and layered with a couple diff vectorized versions.

On a side note, tbh I had a pretty difficult time wrapping up this latest mix, which personally rarely happens. I always have some theme in mind when I make a mix, even if a large portion of it is from a recent DJ set I built. But everything I originally conceptualized for this project pretty much went out the window and there were a few times I almost scrapped it entirely. But then, not too long ago, I discovered this track “Biding Time” somewhere, and I had a total lightbulb moment as it was the missing link, the final piece, and the song that significantly helped tie all the loose ends together. So much gratitude and respect to producer @amywilesmusic 🙏🙏 And to everyone else, hope you enjoy this final teaser and hope you’ll also check out the new mix when it drops! ✨ by @asomniia
